Whenever there's fat-shaming, colourism, bald-shaming, literally any kind of body-shaming going on, one can hear beauty say, "How am I, when present in some, of less value than when present in others?" and weep.

hey
my friends say that my legs arent beautiful and need to be covered up. why? theyre scarred and bruised and battered and hairy (like the rest of me tbh). they poke fun at me for it all the time. reblog if you think "ugly" legs are still perfect.
Real talk I fucking love Suzy’s (mort3mer) body type and how curvy and confident she is, and how yeah she has a little bit of belly but like, so do I so seeing her flaunt herself makes me feel so much better about my own body y’know??
when i was born i had no concept of my body. i only was. ten years later people began to make me responsible for how my body looked. hissed jokes, made jabs. fourteen years in, society and my peers had taught me every flaw; every hair, bump, and raise that was shameful. things i was born with; born into. i am now twenty and i remember how much i love my body. there are no flaws, they only are. it took 6 years, a fifth of my life time, a third of my living memory, to remember that. how shocking it is how easily other beings ingrain disgust into the one and only true thing that is ours and ours alone.
body talk

Giving Thanks 352015
Thinking about body image and the tough way I've been treating myself about it these last few days: I'm grateful for the unique beauty from every single person and thing in this place. Nuances, asymmetry, smallness, youthfulness. Soft cheeks, big lips of all colors. Gradients of skin color from experiencing the sun ("discoloration"), wrinkles from laughing or squinting. Short hair. Short eyelashes and sparse eyebrows. I appreciate the ability, as difficult as it may be, to look at everything in a way that doesn't compare it to something else in order to define its beauty. There's more art in it to describe something independently of something else and declare it beautiful. Of a puddle of rocks: Those brown oblong rocks in that puddle of milky water are of so many various sizes and shapes, some so small that they glint in the sun, mirroring light patterns. Less time spent on figuring out how to make my eyebrows fuller and my cheek bones higher. Radiating love is beautiful. I'm grateful that change is a welcome constant for me now. In using this notion in process today. I'm grateful Marley is back in my life. Funny guy.
If you ever argue that body image positivity is glorifying obesity I will slap you across the fucking face. How fucking dare you. Not once in human history has the idea of having excess fat ever been glorified. People who are over weight are told on a daily basis that their body is disgusting and that they should be disgusted with themselves. Not once has someone ever said "hey you know what would be really cool? having an addiction to salt and sugars so much that my body fat is at the point of obesity." Those words have and never will be uttered. If you want to scream about glorifying unhealthy things then why don't you try alcohol, cigarettes, and drugs. Because I can assure the amount of times I as a teenager have seen the use of those things glorified by society outweighs the times I've seen obesity glorified by a million to zero. Stop having models and celebrities spreading the message that smoking and alcohol make you a cooler person and then maybe you'd have a healthier society. Body image positivity is the idea that your physical shape does not define how beautiful you are as a person. You can be skinny and beautiful you can have fat and beautiful and you can be obese and still be stunning. Your weight does not measure your worth as a human being. Stop shitting on people who's weight is none of your business and start teaching kids that they are beautiful no matter why size the are. For fucks sake.
