Listen, if Maul had continued to go after Sidious, considering that Sidious was intending to body snatch to extend his own life......

Maul might've ended up getting possessed and puppeted until his body fell apart.

As much as it hurt to see Maul die, it was a great deal kinder than the terrifying alternative.
