In regards to the last reblog, King/Andy the other day sent me a pinterest that reminded them a lot of Astaria's body type. And !!! that really got me wanting to talk about it.
So, for an elf, Astaria has a very atypical body. She's fit, but also very curvy, with fuller proportions around certain areas (breasts, hips, thighs, etc.). Because of that, she's always stood out amongst her own kind, as elves tend to favour a smaller and overall daintier build and she simply isn't that kind of elf! Her cousin in particular was extremely condescending and displayed some pretty unacceptable behaviours regarding the whole thing. He would often complain that Astaria's father was "overfeeding" her and would even encourage others to starve her in some misconception that they could "fix" her proportions.
Despite everything she's been through because of her unusual elven figure, Astaria is extremely stubborn and still managed to maintain a positive view of both her own image as well as that of others. While she's been made painfully aware that her own body isn't considered particularly attractive by most elven standards, other races have generally been far more receptive to her appearance, the acceptance of which has helped her reinforce the confidence she carries later in life!
