                    “ I ruined me? “, she hissed at him, unflinching at a demon who had some kind of balls on him to tell her that she ruined herself. She’d been this way for centuries now, but she never considered her condition a gift, it was a curse, fighting the urge to shift her eyes at the very least but she didn’t, she wanted to work under the assumption she was human. But she was close to bringing her true self out for him to see it. Self-loathing and hateful Azin fought to keep herself human, not even allowing herself to hunt. “ Explain to me in your infinite fucking wisdom how I did that?” She could feel her tongue rattle in her mouth it started to hurt, her signal she was getting close to turning. She actually turned her back to him to bring herself back under control.

The Demon King’s approach didn’t startle him, but it was unexpected in its own way. He didn’t consider them to be friends. Rivals, perhaps. Worthy of each others’ respect. But not friends. The question surprises him more. 

He likes to think he knows demons. The unholy and the afterlife are his stock and trade, after all. And everyone knows that this demon has a certain amount of pride. So, for him to request help so openly? He must be desperate. Curious. But also, quite the opportunity. 

“That depends.” ‘Taker keeps his voice as neutral as his expression. No need to act out, yet. “Which self do you want out, what do you want to happen to the discarded personality...” He steps forwards, arms crossed.

“And what’s in it for me?”

No, he shouldn’t. At least, that’s what a rational person would say. And he’s been trying very hard to be rational. Well-behaved. Better. ‘Recovery is a conscious effort’, how many times had he been told that? But oh, the fire is hungry. But oh, it’s been restrained for so long. But oh, it’s snarling and snapping beneath his skin and oh, wouldn’t it feel so much better to just give in? Who would stop him? Who could? (He can think of only two, and Big Brother is nowhere to be found. Paul, too.) 

He’s acutely aware of the sound of his own breath. The prickling through his veins. The way the light glints off of McMahon’s car. He’s not quite as aware of the tensing of his own muscles, the rippling of tendons, the–

Welp.

He had been aware of the light on McMahon’s car. Now he’s aware of the smoldering wreck that used to be McMahon’s car. He doesn’t try to suppress the chuckle that earns. He’s absolutely going to get in trouble for this. He absolutely doesn’t care. He walks a half-circle around the car, then tosses his hair out of his face. 

Oh, he missed this. He really missed this. 

After a moment to admire the flames - the brilliant flashes of oranges, yellows, and reds that put any museum to shame - he tosses a grin towards the younger… Man. 

“You’re alright.” And now he’s back to watching the fire. That might just be the rest of his afternoon.

maybe   there   was   something   to   be   said   about   her   near   expert   skill   set   when   it   came   to   sneaking    past   security   and   getting   herself   backstage   at   the   show.   one   would   think,   with   the   battle   of   the   brands   coming   in   less   than   a   week,   they   would   be   on   guard   but   NOPE.   she   flashed   a   badge   and   she   was   on   her   way,   ducking   around   a   corner   to   pull   the   darkened   wig   from   her   head   after   tugging   back   the   hood   of   the   sweatshirt   she   wore   before   dropping   the   zipper   as   well;   revealing   the   blue   ‘  smackdown   live  ’   shirt   beneath   it. 

a   woman   on   a   mission,   that’s   what   she   was   as   she   made   her   way   down   the   hall;   casting   the   occasional    glance   over   her   shoulder   to   make   sure   that   no   one   had   come   along   and   ruined   her   plan.   the   only   problem   with   the   shoulder   glances,   was   that   she   lost   a   few   precious   seconds   and   that   came   back   to   bite    her   rather   quickly   when   she   bumped   into   something   very   solid   ...   or   rather   someone.  

there   was   no   time   to   stop   the   curse   that   fell   from   her   lips   and   her   gaze   SNAPPED   up,   the   expression   on   her   face   saying   that   she   was   more   than   ready   to   go   but   she   was   met   by   a   pair   of   very   familiar   eyes   and   a   voice   that   she   hadn’t   been   able   to   shake   for   years.

What felt like months had really only been a few weeks when his closest friend and brother had given him the Dirty D/e/eds, abandoning all that they had fought for in the heat of a moment. The Iowan was left alone with the pain of the beat down that followed, hot tears filling his eyes as he looked around the arena for the familiar face that had paid him back for his own betrayal. Now he knew what it felt like. But his heart hurt for so many other reasons. A false sense of security had been given to him for two years now just to have the rug pulled from under him in a few seconds. He sat back with the tag team belts against his lap, fingers tracing over the one meant for Dean and a sadness washing over him. It was only when the words were spoken that he even realized someone had been watching him. Deep and glistening browns turned in the voices direction as his jaw tightened. “You.. don’t know a damn thing about this-- About any of it!” He called out to the unknown, daring it’s owner to show it’s face as his breath increased with emotions. But to hell with shedding any more tears. What good was any of it? Dean didn’t care. Roman-- Well, that was another story entirely. The only thing that THAT voice had gotten right had been the fact that he was alone. No one was there to have his back any more. No Authority. No Shield. Just him. Fingers tightened around the two red belts as he held them close to his chest, feeling anger replacing the sadness suddenly. “If you’re gonna taunt me.. at least show your goddamn face, you coward!”
