Musical Monday: Play edition

Hello! This week is a very big week in the life of Marc. I am opening my first high school production, which also marks my directorial debut! As is custom on the blog, I will be highlighting this title, and hope that if you’re local you’ll head on over to the theater and support some local high school art! Here we go!

Broadway Run: ORIGINAL CAST= February 2, 1965 - February 20, 1965

                           REVIVAL CAST= May 4, 2008 - January 4, 2009

Awards Won: ORIGINAL CAST= None

                        REVIVAL CAST= Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play, Best Actor in a Play (Mark Rylance)/Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Actor in a Play (Mark Rylance)/ 2008 Theatre World Award (Mark Rylance)

Other: There’s a 1965 film adaptation of the same name, which starred Tony Curtis (Bernard), Jerry Lewis (Robert), and Thelma Ritter (Bertha).

Fun Fact: The Opening night Revival Cast included Christine Baranski (Berthe), Mark Rylance (Robert), and had Paige Davis replace as Gloria.

Boeing-Boeing is an incredibly fun farce, and one that my students are stoked to present. If you’re in or around the Central Valley, come on down to Bullard High School between October 10th-October 19th and check out the airline hilarity. Go see this show!
