The word "boogeyman" has come a long way, and at some point divided off etymologically into both "Bugbear" and "Boggart", which is like a very spicy "Brownie".
Bugbears and Brownies look so different now, but they came from the same boogey woogie ancestor.
So Jack-O is a character I've really only talked about on streams, BUT he's the Bogeyman, a monster that was sealed away by humans but is *accidently* released by Shelley during her trip to Earth. He sees humans as the enemy, and challenges Shelley's notion that humans are "good" and "peaceful".
He also wants to incite war against the humans and rally the monsters to take back Earth, bc he hates living in Monsterra as just some "normal" guy, he wants to be THE GOD OF FEAR BABY
The witch of the woods, one of the most famous characters in Slavic folklore. It is said she lives far off in the Faraway Tsardom alone in a hut that walks on rooster feet, her nose so long and vile that it touches the opposing wall inside. She flies around most often in a mortar with a broom to sweep away her tracks as she moves. She appears in many stories, sometimes as a rancid witch who eats her visitors such as in The Maiden Tsar and sometimes as a helpful crone such as in Vasilisa the Beautiful. Sometimes she may even appear as multiple witches all named Baba Yaga, and she may also present with daughters or sons who are equally as vile. Other regions can be found with similar characters leading scholars to believe they all derive from a similar source.
A blood-soaked monster, a creature that haunts childhood, Raw Head and Bloody Bones. A classic bogeyman who hunts unruly children, thus promoting good habits and behavior.
