Just been eating a lot of lestappen lore lately and one of my absssss fav lestappen tidbits is how in that one Dutch interview he was asked if he thinks he and Charles will one day drive together for Ferrari and he immediately answers that he doesn't think 2 number 1 drivers should drive together, which might sound casual if you don't know Max Verstappen but since he's my emotional support real man hyperfixation I FUCKING KNOW that's a huge ass thing for him to say because who else do we think he would ever acknowledge as a number 1 driver beside him??? Lewis probably and that's it anybody else in a 2nd seat is a number 2 driver and he would be justified in saying that matter of fact like it doesn't matter if you're the number 1 driver on your team right now if you're next to max you're number 2,that's not even shade to your skill it's just him 😭

But the fact that he puts Charles next to him as an equal and then the interviewer asks him if that's what he sees Charles as and this goof immediately tries to play it off all cool "he's no pancake"

This is crazy because like. It’s always interesting to see how max views his rivals on track? He always ties the gap to respect, and he always tries to get inside their head. He wants to know everyones driving styles and the longest one he’s ever known is his forbidden rival Charles Leclerc

Anyway what im trying to say is he’s known charles the longest. Hes not going on a whim saying that ”ah hes new, what the hell“ (this interview is from 2019 when charles was still fairly new), he knows that Charles is 100% a number one driver.
