Locals Attend Czech Folk Festival - Františka Uřičářová
A man plays guitar while his friend writes poetry in the Gaslight Cafe, July 13, 1959. As described by the photographer:
At places like the Gaslight, which calls itself the Village's oldest coffee shop, the beats meet to drink espresso coffee (and sometimes ice cream sodas) and hold weighty philosophical discussions of art and life. Their beards, unkempt hairdos and strange costumes all express their rebellion against convention.

«The Bohemians and The Heartbreak Hotel: a comprehensive guide to my headcanons about life inside We Will Rock You's safe haven and the saviours of rock'n'roll»
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PART ONE; THE REBEL LEADERS
Big Macca; known as The Rebel Leader, Big Macca started out his 'Bohemian Journey' in High School (seemingly a common age bracket for most). He was in a trio of the most looked up to and admired boys in High School. He, Pop and Khashoggi were the most popular of their year; all straight A students who were all top of their respective classes. Big Macca was a computer whiz in his college years, coding was his language and he became very popular among the tech study halls, often helping out the younger students that weren't quite grasping the material at hand. While his roomates landed jobs in the top divisions of globalsoft, he narrowly escaped being drafted and could barely get a job while all his friends filtered away into security, archiving, military and other various high end positions. He ended up working in one of the fast food complexes in the larger mall sector, selling burgers, popcorn and oversized drinks to all sorts of people. This is where he meets Aretha and the two end up running away with each other shortly after their first *encounter*, resulting in the pregnancy of their first and only biological child (later known, as Charlotte)
Aretha; one half of the duo who leads the Heartbreak Hotel. Aretha started her bohemian journey at a much later age than most, taking her until almost college graduation to realise that she was not like most people living in the iPlanet. She was clumsy more than anything throughout high school/finishing school which made her unpopular enough - especially combined with her intrinsically nerdy personality, her love of art really gave her something she could be passionate about. It only took her until she was 19 to realise that most forms of human-made art had been banned during The Great Reformation, and only those in Killer Queen's cabinet were allowed to draw pre-approved logos. She never truly cared about fashion or trends and really only wore her uniform and an oversized hoodie, that was until her and Big Macca started dating and even then, her choices were becoming drastically different from most of (if not all) the girls her age. She pierced her nose herself once or twice, not trusting the cosmetic specialists to "get it right", but vowed to at least make one friends that could do it for her if it ever fell out (or got infected again).
Running away was rough more times than not, it was smoky, the air was bitter and tensions were high with Big Macca's lack of confidence and Aretha's hormones starting to give her mood swings from pregnancy. Through all the hardships they prevailed; finding shelter in an abandoned and ancient subway transportation system. Everyday Big Macca and Aretha would go out Scavenging for whatever they could, finding scraps of materials, food, memorabilia, music and even sometimes others who have tried to make it on their own; beginning the system of the Heartbreak Hotel. The more they found, the less Aretha was needed to leave comfort the heavier pregnant she was, yet she still founds ways to keep active. She would learn how to knit, creating blankets for the bohemians more susceptible to the ailments of the chilling autumnal air. She would be painting murals onto the walls, using fun and bright colours to create a loving and welcoming environment while Big Macca would often sneak back into the iPlanet for more pressing supplies.
