Inktober 2022 -17: Volcano
Loosely based on this reference photo: https://reignofsiderians.tumblr.com/post/671229561175932928/lsleofskye-northern-resonance-iceland
Concerning Siderian concept art: there is a metacluster (which is so far called Boiling Bay) in Iceland and there are Siderians living there, so this could well be a snapshot from there. The little Siderian figures appear a bit big, or the volcano is just not so huge ;P
----some technical aspects of this little try-out painting:
Since I ran out of my brush pens and the art store didn’t have them I changed to another material: Ecoline liquid water colour paint. I like that it’s a lot easier to get the deep dark tones than it is with regular water colour paint (from pans). It also dries out blacker. It’s rather similar to water colours from a pan or tube, except that the colours are intenser more vibrant but also more ‘runny’ and easier to mess up yet also easier to control in some ways. Anyway, I like it a lot so far.
The lava texture I created by drawing the lines with candle wax before painting. This prevents the paint from getting there and if you don’t press too hard on the candle wax, you can use the paper texture to get this grainy effect.
Parkour Journalist McGee returns for PART 2
(Follow up to this last comic here)
I’ve been meaning to do another comic like this for a good long while, but art takes you places and puts stuff on the back burner sometimes. I really do enjoy doing these comics for as simple as their current style is. Still learning how to approach paneling and sound effects, but hey, baby steps. Last thing I was expecting to do was 2 whole pages lol. There is definitely more I wanted to do with this HC of mine, but this time, some lovely comments based off the last comic inspired this one lol
Also if your wondering about the aftermath
