#Repost @thewinestache (@get_repost) ・・・ The Bourgoin family has been producing Cognac in Saint-Saturnin for as far as one could remember; but it’s only been two years the youngest generation started commercializing it under their own brand! Fact, there are 5’000 growers in the Cognac region, out of those, only roughly 1’300 actually distil their production. There are then just slightly more than 200 that actually sell their spirit under their brand! Cognac is indeed a market dominated by a handful of big houses and a few medium-sized ones, that buy wine or spirit from those 5’000 growers and then age, blend, brand and sell the bottles. So, in that space, Bourgoin stands out as quite an exception as they now grow, distil, age and bottle at the estate! Their first cuvée is a single cask Cognac dating from 1994, quite an exception again.
