eyes  focused  on  his  mouth  as  he  spoke  ,  wide  eyes  to  to  almost  squints  as  she  creates  the  sentence  in  her  mind  .  she  had  motioned  that  she  was  going  off  on  her  own    ;    that  people  were  going  to  die  if  they  weren’t  fast  enough ,  it  was  quicker  to  search  that  way   ..   less  smart  ,  yes  .   the  tense  forest  was  heighten   ,  the  threat  of  the  dead  and  the  living  was  screaming  at  every  turn  .  but  they  were  getting  nowhere  together  .  she  didn’t  wish  to  leave  him    (   he  watched  her  back  and  she  watched  his    ;     the  silent  deal .  )  .   her  lips  pressed  together  with  a  shake  of  her  head  ,  she  hadn’t  expected  his  protest  .

     i’ll  be  fine  .     she  motions  to  him    ,   finger  stretched  out  so  her  motions  were  clear   --   her  way  of  talking  louder  .      they  might  not  be  .      he  had  gotten  better  at  signing  ,  learning  things  she  didn’t  show  him  ,  surprising  her  with  every  gesture  .
