“Two Face Charges Under Securities Act,” Toronto Globe. March 25, 1933. Page 12. ---- (Special Despatch to The Globe.) Peterboro', March 24.-Two members of the Nu-Manna Mining and Production Syndicate, Arthur T. Stone, aged 59, of Madoc, and Arthur E. Fisher, 48, of Toronto, appeared before Police Magistrate Langley today on charges under the Ontario Securities Act of 1930. The charges against the two read: "Unlawfully did trade in a security, to wit, units of NuManna Mining and Production Syndicate, at a time when he was not registered as a broker, as a salesman of a registered brokerage, contrary to the provisions of the Securities Act of 1930." With the evidence for the prosecution completed in the case against Stone, the trial was adjourned until Tuesday because Crown Attorney V. G. McElderry, K.C., desired time to obtain further evidence.

Strickland, Peterboro', Given Two Years For Converting Funds ---- PETERBORO, March 1 - Found guilty Tuesday of having converted to his own use $1,300 of funds entrusted to him by Mrs. Marion Cameron of Indian River, C. E. Strickland, bond salesman, of Lakefield, was sentenced by Judge Huycke to a term of two years less one day, in the Ontario Reformatory at Guelph, one year to be determinate and one indeterminate.

"Trial in Alleged Bond Conspiracy Delayed,” Montreal Star. November 10, 1932. Page 3. ---- George Bellefleur is Refused Plea For Bail --- The trial of George Bellefleur, alleged to have conspired with James Carson, alias ‘Father James Calahan,’ to steal $41,000 worth of bonds from a Toronto bond company was opened this morning and after the hearing of evidence and one witness, adjourned until November 17.

George Nightingale, attached to the Toronto office of the company, told the court that Bellefleur had approached him on October 30 with a request to be appointed an agent, claiming that he had a client ready to buy $40,000 worth nf bonds. An agreement was reached. Later he was advised by telegram to have the bonds ready for delivery to the Montreal office to “Rev. Father James Calahan, 251 Dalhousie street, Ottawa." When Canon appeared to take the bonds, he was arrested and Bellefleur was taken into custody shortly afterward.

An application for bail was refused.
