Cutting on the Silhouette
I was a bit nervous about cutting out the teapot to go on the front of my custom order needle book. Because of the overall size of the needle book, the teapot couldn’t be too big, and it was a very curvy and difficult shape to cut accurately.
So I dived in and ironed bondaweb on to some cotton from a fat quarter I had around. And then stuck it to my Silhouette cutting board.
I used some masking tape to hold the edges down, as fraying can be a problem as well as the material being dragged slightly by the cutting process.
It loaded in well, and then it cut. I used a 4 depth for my blade, and I double cut everything. I had some clip art of a teapot, and I used that on Silhouette Studio to make a suitable size cut.
The bondaweb worked really well, and there was only some very minimal snipping that needed to happen at the top of the spout and around the top of the lid.
Then I ironed it onto a piece of plain cotton I have oodles of and made sure it was firmly in place.
Now I just have to decide if I want to hand stitch around it or use the machine and zigzag instead!
Obviously this is my practice piece, and I will be far more with it when I work on the needle book tomorrow!
