So I got some pretty upsetting news yesterday... I've been dealing with some lameness issues with Seuss for the last two months. We started with a chiropractor and then the vet came and nerve blocked his hoof. The vet came back yesterday and took some X-rays of booth front feet. The whole X-ray process was very interesting and Seuss was very well behaved! Turns out, Seuss has a bone chip under his fetlock in his front left leg. The chip digs into his adjoining bone with every step, causing pain and discomfort. The vet recommended trying anti inflammatory medication and if that doesn't help, surgery is an option. The vet is coming back to do more nerve blocking to ensure that the one chip is what is causing the pain. Then we'll make a plan from there. Never thought I would ever have to deal with something like this. Seuss has been fairly healthy with only a few bouts of lameness. This is something that can't be ignored though. Seuss is only 12 and still has many more years ahead of him, so now I have to decide about surgery and when to start that whole process. If anyone has any information or experience with equine bone chips, please let me know!!
