Bone House

I walked over the pile of bones at my feet  Crunching between my toes My thoughts wonder who they once were Apologizing as i climb over them  But i have to get out of here

No idea of how i ended up in this place Its dark and cold I can see my own breath Sending a chill down my spine Falling to the bottom of the bone pit A human skull with its jaw agape staring straight at me I scream until i can no longer breath Calling for help But no one hears me I’m all alone Looking up at my lifeless body 

Now only death remains

If you’ve followed this blog for any amount of time you know I bought a house that belonged to a disaster taxidermist but I don’t know if you fully realize how many TEETH and SPINES there are in my dirt.

Beinhaus por Malcolm Heaven Por Flickr: The Beinhaus (bone house) in Hallstatt dates back to twelve century AC. There are over 1200 skulls in the charnel, of them 610 have been painted in flowery designs, they are neatly stacked in rows along with next of kin and have the date of decease written on them.

The house of Bones

In the beautiful town of Hallstatt Austria the residents suffer from an unusual problem. Being a hill town in 1700 they ran out of space to bury people. The solution was to dig up some of the older graves to make space. The bones were moved to the beinhaus (Bone House). By 1720 they had a new problem as once bleached by the sun skulls look very similar. To ensure they knew who was who they started decorating the skulls with painted designs. Today over 1000 skeletons reside there. With families kept together to make it easier for relatives to locate their ancestors.
