Somewhere in Milwaukee, August Traeger is having fun illustrating monsters. Eight colorful creatures grace the covers of eight split tapes, each half an hour in length, now available separately or as a batch. This is the perfect example of how cover art can attract the attention. There’s just no resisting these critters. We can imagine them each opening their mouths and making these sounds.…

Bonehole: Zourgrates (2016) Self-released by Bonehole. It's Harsh Noise month at The Cavemen Ltd. and first up for today I've got this lovely album by Bonehole called Zourgrates. This is Harsh Noise of the most intense kind. Intense buzzing, Noise, piercing high frequencies and absolutely extreme intense "penetration" of the ears. But I never thought Harsh Noise could be this exciting of a listen. Track 1 Thespeakersplaythewindow thewindowplaysthepiano thepianocomesoutofthespeakers not only has one of the best track titles I've seen so far, but it actually has experimental avant-garde piano playing in it, though extremely distorted. While yes, it does sound like someone literally banging his hands on the piano, it's such a new sound for me in this genre. It's actually rather funny at times and gives this track an original twist. Second track ㄺ3ㅎ0쇼0ㅗ4ㅛ2ㅅ0ㅅ1ㄱ6 has a more full on harsh sound, but in this case there are some great extremely trippy delay effects, that especially with the extreme distortion sound absolutely insane. So, what a nice release to kick of Harsh Noise month. You can grab it above!
Mystery of 200-year-old British soldier found in the dunes of Holland
The 200-year-old body of a British Coldstream Guards soldier was found in sand dunes in the Netherlands. Who was he?
For more than two centuries, the remains of a soldier lay undisturbed on a windy beach in the northern Netherlands.
But in March 2011, birdwatchers discovered bones and metal artefacts among sand-dunes that had once been covered in asphalt.
The find was near an area known as the "Bonehole" because of the number of historic remains that had previously been unearthed.
A team of archaeologists was called in to dig further. Among them was 28-year-old Esther Poulus, whose involvement was to lead her to the National Archives in Kew, Surrey, in an attempt to discover the identity of the fallen soldier. Read more.
