What are BoneLatch and CarbonTheory's other sisters like? There's at least three of them, right?

There are exactly three other sisters - their mother had a run of daughters so this is it. Carbon labeled them in her phone by birth order

The eldest, Wash, stuck around to help care for Angle and Ghost, got burnt out on responsibility, and bounced. Lives with her partner and is kind of a no good bum. Tends to now only call family for favors and to ask for money.

Second eldest daughter Angle is their generation's mother, she's the type of person who's a little obsessed with her kids and being a mother, which her elders encourage and favor her for. Since Wash took off she's in the line of succession for leadership instead - she's third in line it's not that exciting but she is being actively trained and involved in how the house runs and lords this over her sisters.

Sister#3 as Carbon labeled her, the obligatory skinny kid from a fat family, Ghost. More quiet and reserved but not actually timid. Very loyal to her family to the degree that she's often kind of a house leadership lackey. She played surrogate and carried Carbon in her pouch since her mother said she was done with babies and Angle had her own joey to worry about.

BoneLatch! A lot of people know her already she researches the use of magic in the context of making materials that can then have secondary effects. Think potions. Warm upbeat personality. She was supposed to be their mothers last kid. Carbon was born after she'd moved out.

Do you have a family tree of you Saratoan characters? I'm having trouble figuring out how they connect to each other

I don't think a family tree would help since many aren't related and I haven't drawn every generation of the families mentioned, but here's as quick a rundown as I can give:

BoneLatch and CarbonTheory are sisters (three other sisters were also shown only recently, WashView, AnglePull and GhostFrame), and FateLock is their great grandmother.

Unrelated to that family, HyssopFall is FlickPin's great uncle, and RainBook is FlickPin's very young son.

Unrelated to both those families, PenWell is the one in charge of the building and legal entity that provides housing for CarbonTheory and FlickPin so is frequently seen with both and their friends and relatives - he's like honorary grandpa. PenWell knows FateLock personally they've know each other a long time. He has a brother, ClayWire who has been drawn only once so far. He had more family but they are deceased, only alluded to at present.

PenWell and ReedWalk were best friends, Reed is now deceased

Character!DimeSpin is not related to Pen they are just the same ethnicity (half the same ethnicity)

Because they live in the same house I do intend to depict Flick and Carbon talking in the future - the culture clash 160-year generation gap between Carbon and Pen is just too funny to me so I keep drawing them talking haha

BoneLatch and DimeSpin are best friends

HyssopFall and AtlasKind are best friends

AtlasKind and HyssopFall trained DimeSpin in spellwriting at one point and they occasionally talk

There are older characters I may or may not draw again but they aren't blood related to anyone above. I drew an Atau once who had a fully fuzzy head and neck I might bring her back because it was funny but if I do I have no idea if she knows any of these people.

The funeral director goth girl will also be drawn again. She's not anyone's blood relative but she knows PenWell in a professional capacity.

Does carbon like any of their family?

Will BoneLatch's name change too, since CarbonTheory's has? They used to share a suffix!

Bones is keeping her name the same, they will just sadly not have names in common. It's fine, since the suffix was never really a surname, I just liked the idea of some parents using the second half of the name like a surname. But alas, I wanted to name her Carbon and didn't like the sound of "CarbonLatch" as much

This puts them more in line with the general cultural trend of their names having no actual relationship to heredity
