Did almost 50km today cycling around most of the local open spaces. Epsom and Ewell has many and they are so important in these lockdown times. Looking after open spaces is often considered as a 'cost' when the investment should be looked upon as being vital to well being and, overall, a hidden saving in regard to benefits to health and well being - less likely to be ill, facing mental illness or time in hospital. Sadly there are lots of towns and cities around the World that are built up with few open spaces. Or restricted access in the outer suburbs and countryside (it always surprised me how much of the US was off limits outside national parks and state parks). After WWII in the UK there was the successful campaign for much more access to the countryside and more footpath access. This is to be appreciated in these lockdown times. #nonsuchpark #warrenfarm #priesthillnaturereserve #hogsmillnaturereserve #bonesgatestream #hortoncountrypark #epsomcommon #ashteadcommon #ashteadnationalnaturereserve #longgrovepark (at Epsom and Ewell) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKKRpApDdwT/?igshid=fcie9z13626k
