Personal Disasters

Intro: I wrote this in collaboration with the brilliant @captkirkss (go follow her btw) as a rp (I didn’t know what that was until this).  She was Jim and I was Bones.  I think it is cute and brilliant. 

Pairing: Bones x Kirk - so McKirk 

Word Count: 725 (short and sweet)

Triggers: nothing that I can think of - just fluffy fluff

Summary: Jim and Bones are roommates at the Academy and Jim comes back to the dorm very disheveled.  Bones fixes him.  <3

Jim punched in the passcode to his and Bones' dorm room. He sighed and crashed onto the bed, looking over to his boyfriend and roommate who was studying.

"How long have you been there?" he asked, looking at Bones with tired, red eyes.

"Since you left, 12 hours ago," Bones responded, looking over the top of his book to take in an unnaturally disheveled Jim, "I'm a doctor, Jim, which means I have to know stuff or other people die, and if you want to be a Captain one day you should be studying too."

When Jim didn't respond, Bones lowered his book with a huff and stalked over to a motionless Jim, half contemplating whether or not to check his pulse.

"What the hell happened to you anyway?"

"Went to the bar, got drunk, got beaten up, the usual, Bones, you should know this stuff by now." Jim sighed and pulled the covers over his freezing body, trying to stop himself from shaking."Computer, set temperature to 22 degrees." Jim felt the warm air hit him and he smiled, "Much better..."

"Damnit, Jim, your skin is ice cold," Bones commented as he pressed his fingers skillfully against Jim's pulse.

He stalked over and pulled a med-kit out from a drawer next to his bed, muttering grumpily as he did. "Jim, I need to check you out, come out from under the blankets."

"Relax, I'm...fine...!" Jim coughed between his words and he groaned. "Just a cough, that's all..."

Bones ripped the covers off Jim who protested in between coughs. Grabbing Jim's wrist Bones slid Jim's sleeve up his arm to examine his skin.

"Good god man! How did you get these?" Bones exclaimed and scanned his tricorder over Jim's forearm which was covered in dark red spots.

Jim shrugged, not caring about the spots on his arm, "I would love to sleep now, you pain in the ass. So do me a favour and piss off." He yanked his arm away and wrapped himself under the blankets.

Bones ripped back the covers again, immediately scanning Jim's shivering body with the tricorder before the covers were pulled back by a frustrated Jim.

"Jim, did you eat or drink anything funny while you were out?" Bones asked, his brows furrowing in concern and annoyance. 

"No...'iss off..." Jim buried his head into the sheets, making it hard for Bones to process his words correctly.

Letting out a frustrating sigh, Bones knelt on the side of the bed before crawling over Jim and laying down between the wall and him. He wedged his arm between them to raise the tricorder up to Jim's face.

"Bones, get that thing off my face" Jim swatted Bones' hand away and shuffled closer. "Just cuddle me...'m cold..."

Rolling his eyes, Bones complied and lowered the tricorder.

"Fine. But if I catch whatever infectious space bug you have contracted from your idiotic escapades, you owe me one." Bones pulled back the covers just enough for him to get under.

Jim shifted to get closer but when his frozen skin brushed Bones',  Bones yelped and pushed Jim away.

"What now...? I'm cold, not the bloody Arctic!" Jim groaned and sat up, grabbing one of Bones' long, baggy Campus jumpers before climbing back into bed. "I hope your happy, old man."

Bones ignored the jab at his age as he watched Jim sit on the edge of the bed and attempt to pull on the jumper. Jim's hands were shaking too much to get it on. With another frustrated sigh Bones reached over and pulled the jumper over Jim's head and helped get his arms through, pulling it down over his abdomen with a sharp jerk.

"O-Ow...! don't do that..." Jim pouted but laid down next to his boyfriend, burying his face into Bones' chest. "'ove you...Bonesy..."

"You're a disaster, you know that?" Bones responded, intending to sound cross but as he felt Jim's body curl into his, his words became more gentle.  Bones sunk down in the bed and pulled the covers over both of them, his hand instinctively finding Jim's hair, and he began running his fingers through it, attempting to soothe Jim's shivering form.

"But I guess you're my disaster." Bone whispered affectionately, entwining his legs with Jim's.

Jim chuckled softly and hummed in reply before his eyes drifted closed in bliss and exhaustion, "Yeah...number one disaster..."

AU where Jim's family & Bones' family are really close and go to a lakehouse together every summer since Bones was 10 and Jim was 7 and one year they go and Bones sees Jim and is like 'shit the kid got hot' and Jim just grins at him, claps him on the shoulder and saunters inside swinging his hips a little because he knows Bones is watching him. 

They spend all their time together as per usual and on their last night it's late and dark and the two of them are down by the lake on a picnic blanket lying down and staring up at the stars probably a little closer than normal but neither of them care. And without warning Jim shuffles until he's lying on his side pressed up right against Bones with his head resting on the older man's shoulder - looking up at him with those bright blue eyes of his that seem to be shining in the moonlight. Bones glances down at him and swallows nervously but wraps an arm around Jim anyway to keep him in place. Jim's other hand finds Bones' and entwines their fingers with a mischievous grin before closing his eyes and snuggling up closer hearing Bones breath catch in his throat and the mumbled 'dammit, Jim' before he feels the arm around him tighten.

The next morning Winona Kirk goes looking for her son because it's time for them to leave and she finds him cuddled up with Bones on the bank of the lake in the same positions they fell asleep in smiling dopily at each other and she just smirks and backs away leaving them to it. And when it's finally time for the Kirk's to go, Jim's arms are around Bones and he's clinging to him like he's gonna disappear if he lets go and Bones is whispering promises in his ear telling him he'll call every night and they'll video chat and everything and then they pull away but Jim's pouting and Bones can't stand it so he kisses him hard with his hands in his dirty blond hair, eyes scrunched up tight not letting himself cry because he's not a soppy teenage girl dammit.

Then they go to the same lakehouse for their honeymoon 15 years later :3

Jim and Bones have totally different shifts one month so they never saw each other instead Jim left Bones stupid - but extremely endearing - post it notes for Bones telling him how much he loved him and Bones just blushing and smiling all day
