Pairing: Bunvin (Bunny/Gavin idk what their proper ship name is)
Warning: Nothing but fluff (and maybe a little confusing)
Summary: Mirrors are said in lore to be gateways to other dimensions and stuff. Well what if you looked into a mirror and instead of some crazy dimension you just got closer to the person you were perfect for? What if a mirror could guide you to your soul mate if the desire was strong enough?
The alarm went off and Gavin sighed putting a pillow over his head, it was the week after RTX and he was still recuperating from that hell of a party. As the alarm blared and nagged he finally groaned before smashing at it getting it to shut up. He still didn’t move instead he questioned why he had the alarm; he had the week off sow why not sleep in? He figured he just forgot to turn it off that’s something he would do. It was only seven and the blackout curtains he had hanging on his windows were keeping out the early rising Texas sun, for that he was grateful. He rolled over and closed his eyes willing himself to be drawn back into the world of sleep; instead a rush hit his bladder.
“Bollocks,” he huffed throwing the covers off himself face deep in a frown as he sat up.
Of course he would have to piss, he doubted after he started moving around he would be able to sleep again.
On the other side of America Bunny, a girl in her late teens, was staring at the dark ceiling smiling to herself as memories danced through her head all of them from RTX. Waking up now as the sun slowly rose giving her room a slight glow she couldn’t believe it was over, the weekend had seemed to fly by so fast. She missed everyone already but was glad for things like Twitter and Tumblr helping her keep in touch and making her smile. She turned over looking at the clock she thought about getting up soon. She was tired but for some reason antsy, she still had plenty of summer left to sleep in anyway.
She sat up and stretched coupled with a yawn, her mind was brushing away cobwebs and ideas flooded her as her hands itched to draw.
“After breakfast,” she said to the empty air in the bedroom.
She hopped out of bed and padded down the stairs bare feet curling on the cool morning tile of the down stairs.
Gavin walked out of the bathroom hitting the light switch off and yawning, he fell back on his bed face first smothered by the blue sheets he had changed a few days ago. He listened to the silent house and knew everyone was still sleeping like normal people do after a busy ass weekend. Gavin flipped himself over and looked at the remote sitting on his nightstand, he wondered what was on at seven on a Monday morning, maybe he would just put on some cartoons.
He went to reach for the remote but like an instinct his hand went to his phone instead and he freed is from the charging cord looking to see if he’d missed any messages. The answer was no, unless he went to twitter, on there he had about a billion new people tweeting at him and well, it was too early to filter though for his friends.
He climbed onto his bed in a sitting position and this time grabbed the remote clicking the on button and opening the channel menu to see what he could find.
Bunny flicked through the channels at the speed of light as she spooned another bite of captain crunch out of her cereal bowl and chomped on it the crunch grounding in her ears. She was the only one at home today, everyone else went off to work which for a little longer is something she put off to focus on school and art, mostly art.
She finally put the remote down settling on an early morning classic, SpongeBob. It kind of felt weird without several people talking to her like at the hotel room in Austin where she woke up every morning to Tora and Tina. She also had nowhere to be unlike over the weekend when she had so much to see she couldn’t wait for the next day.
She picked up her cereal bowl slurping up the milk and thinking about Ray, she missed him too and thought about sending him a message, it might be a bit early for him though. Still what harm could it do, she would just leave him one to get back to in his own leisure.
She put her bowl in the sink then bounced up the stairs looking for her phone which was on the windowsill. She forgot to plug it in last night so she sent a quick “Hey good morning, have a good break. What are you up to now that RTX is done?” to Ray then snapped the charger into her phone.
She looked at her laptop sitting silently on her desk and all the drawing ideas rushed at her. She took a step forward then hesitated, she figured she would shower and dress first, to kind of start her day like she had in Austin.
Gavin was watching Tom and Jerry giggling to himself as Jerry constantly outwitted Tom and the cartoon cat got smashed by something, or crushed, or shocked. Jerry was a smart little mouse.
There was a soft knock on his bedroom door and Geoff poked his head in looking really tired, he had bags starting to form under his eyes, but he was still smiling.
“You’re up earlier than I thought you would be,” Geoff said sleep still tickling at his throat.
Gavin shrugged, “I had to pee and couldn’t go back to sleep after, and I kind of left my alarm on.” He said sheepishly.
Geoff chuckled, “Well if you’re awake enough to you feel like going out to breakfast then spending a day at the park?”
“Sounds pretty top to me let me just grab a quick shower and change.” Gavin nodded throwing his legs over the edge of the bed.
“Okay see you down stairs.” Geoff closed the door and Gavin listened as he walked down the hall and made the stairs creak as he walked down them.
Gavin checked his phone one more time before sliding off his bed and heading to the bathroom for a second time this morning starting the water.
Bunny got out of the warm shower and wrapped herself in a towel happy it was summer and she wasn’t standing there freezing her tail as she dried off a bit. She ran a comb through her hair and brushed her teeth glancing in the mirror, she paused mid brush and held the toothbrush between her teeth as she fiddled with her hair a little and smiling sheepishly as toothpaste found a way to dribble down her chin.
Her mind had wandered off to thinking of Gavin and actually talking to him just a short time ago, she blushed at her own thoughts while spitting out the toothpaste in her mouth and wiping her face with a hand towel.
She walked down the hall to her room and started going through her closet looking for lazy day clothes which came up as just a t-shirt and some shorts. She started to change, then went back to the bathroom to hang up her towel.
She planned on going back downstairs to turn off the TV she had left off but first she needed to stop at her room and grab her glasses so she could see where she was going. They were sitting on her dresser and as she slipped them on and her world came into focus her eyes dared to look in the mirror and she paused.
Gavin was turning his head back and forth looking at his honker of a nose and practicing his best smile like he had done every time before leaving for RTX. His eyes dropped down to the sink as he thought about that girl Ray had carried over to him, Bunny. She made some amazing art for the guys and made him look pretty good. He would never forget the smile she had when they met and she gushed, how someone that nice and sweet, and cute, have been interested in an asshole mug like him he would never know. He leaned against the counter his palms holding the corners as he looked into the mirror and paused.
Bunny felt her heartbeat quicken as she stared back at herself the reflection never changing but, somehow it felt different. She slowly placed her finger tips to the glass and for a split second she swore the fingers reflecting back at her weren’t hers and the chilly feeling that usually hung around mirrors was warm as if she had touched it not long before. She swore she wasn’t crazy.
One of Gavin’s palms had moved to the mirror sitting flat against the reflective glass, his fingertips buzzed with a flash of warmth. The corners of his lips lifted slightly and grew as his hold hand became warm.
Bunny bit her lip resting her head on the mirror her hand now flat against it, and she knew it was warm there was no mistaking it.
In that second the world was broken by the connection of souls strong enough to break the barriers that bound them. In that moment Gavin leaned in forehead touching the mirror and it shattered, not only his but Bunny’s as well. There was no pain no shards of glass in their hands, only skin. In that block of time rules were snapped, Gavin’s forehead was against Bunny’s their hands intertwined and soft smiles playing on their faces as they realized this. They were in their own worl, as close as they could get from the distance that plagued them. They didn’t waist a second of what they had as Gavin closed the gap the mirrors had allowed open. He pulled the girl with the creative hands into his chest his arms around her tight as she giggled that sunshine giggle. He put his chin on her head and there they froze.
“Gavin!” The voice echoed through the void.
The two who broke time and space exchanged speechless looks for worry as the scattered pieces of reality at their feet began to tremble. Gavin cupped Bunny’s cheeks in his warm hands while she shook her head grasping his wrists. She wasn’t ready to leave, neither was he, but he was being called back.
He pressed his lips to hers with all the passion he could find in his heart saying everything at once, like how he wished he could have spent more time with her at RTX and that she was in Austin or was where ever she was, that her art brightened his day. As she kissed back her heart sad the exact same thing tender and sweet.
“You almost ready Gav?” Geoff asked.
Gavin snapped back realizing he was looking at himself in the mirror, his green eyes searching for any signs of what had just happened, he licked his lips. Was Bunny still there, was she alone in that world wondering where Gavin had gone? Had he just imagined the whole thing, was he that strung up?
He looked back to the mirror as Geoff left saying he was about to start the car.
He leaned his head against it, “I don’t know what the bloody hell just happened, but I’m willing to try again later if you are.” He whispered his breath fogging the glass.
He leaned back seeing the print of his lips and he felt kind of stupid talking to a mirror.
He heard the car start.
“I’m coming Geoff I’m coming!” Ha called out as he grabbed his phone and raced down the stairs.
Bunny stepped back a bit almost tripping over her own feet as she crash landed back into reality, whatever just happened was making her mind spin, did she black out? Maybe it was just a day dream playing in her head, but it felt so real, she thought as she flexed her fingers then gingerly slid them across her lips.
She looked back at the mirror and noticed a foggy smudge that couldn’t be hers. She scrambled forward wiping it away with her finger and releasing the message Gavin had left.
Bunny held her breath with the phone in her hand; she had the contact why not use it. Besides he might be thinking the same thing, that it was a dream, and well if she was dreaming then she could always tell him she sent it to the wrong person.
“I would like that,” She typed in and read about ten times before hitting send.
She needed to know the difference now between a dream and reality.
Gavin’s phone made a squawking sound a sound he proudly made with his own voice. He unlocked the phone and saw the message sitting there from bunny. He opened it reading it over and over.
He started typing, “So it wasn’t a dream and I’m not crazy good to know.” He hit send and though he hadn’t even had breakfast yet he couldn’t wait to be home.
As Bunny spent the day drawing waiting as eagerly as Gavin for him to be home she texted him and starting making the friendship a little more.
