What are your OCs biggest fears? Their happiest memory? Their worst experience with alcohol? :)
Eeeeek this was fun :) It got loooooong though…
Jamie: He’s scared he’ll get Alzheimers like his nana
Tristan: He’s basically phobic about wasps (he’s allergic)
Ruairi: He has a healthy fear of God so I think one of his biggest fears is that he’s not been good enough to go to Heaven. He spends a lot of time thinking ….if I died right now, where would I end up?
Orlaith: She’s p scared of heights - especially when other people are leaning over railings and the like
Darragh: He has issues with abandonment, and he’s also scared that his children might have muscular dystrophy (even though it’s an X linked genetic disorder so if he doesn’t have it then he can’t exactly pass it on. It doesn’t really make sense, he just doesn’t want to outlive his kids)
Lucas: He won’t go near opiates. Even if he’s in immense pain and the doctors suggest it, he won’t take them.
Jamie: He taught his sister how to ride a bike, and it was incredibly fulfilling and a beautiful day. (Also, he holds on to it because they got on so well then, whereas now he just Does Not understand her)
Tristan: When he and Jamie went to the Lake District there was a day that they went sailing and he felt so free - like all the things he was worried about just fell away
Ruairi: As far as he’s concerned he’s had a good life - he can’t pick a favourite moment when there have been so many that he treasures
Orlaith: As cheesy as it is, her favourite memory has to be her first kiss.
Darragh: His is a bit weird. So, when he was 12 they went on a school trip to a fair ground (it was a reward for good behaviour in their first term at school) and he and Orlaith went round together and he won her a teddy bear and they ate candy floss and cinder toffee and had a brilliant time. So that was all lovely. Then on the coach on the way home he was hit really suddenly by a CVS episode which was absolutely awful, and most of the people there he’d only known for a few months, and the teachers were a bit at a loss. But Orlaith came and sat at the front of the coach with him and rubbed his back and stared down anyone who dared make comment - like a tiny ginger guard dog - and like, some time on that day was when he realised he was in love with her. So it wasn’t exactly a pleasant experience, but it’s still his favourite memory.
Aoife: it sounds really lame, but she didn’t think she’d actually get the grades to get into uni - she needed art, and that was a struggle for her - so realising that she’d secured her firm choice is her favourite memory
Lucas: being very young and going to the beach with his mum and jumping over the little waves together
Worst experience with alcohol:
Jamie: on Freshers Week he played Roxanne and got v v drunk and picked a fight with a tree. There’s a video and everything. He thinks the embarrassment might have been worse than the inevitable hangover.
Tristan: Tris went home from boarding school one Christmas to find a note from his mum saying that his parents had gone on holiday because they needed some ‘quality time together’ and it just made him feel so empty. He raided the liquor cabinet and drank himself into a stupor on absinthe. He can remember lying on the floor with half of his face covered in sick and just not caring at all, and that memory still kinda scares him.
Ruairi: Errrm, he got plastered on Malibu one time in high school and he can’t remember what happened and no one will quite tell him straight exactly how badly he embarrassed himself. The bits that he does remember involve drunk dialling his ex, bad dancing, and ultimately an awful lot of vomit. The bits that he doesn’t remember involve waxing poetic about the legacy of the Reagan administration, falling down a flight of stairs, and ‘forgetting’ how to drink water.
Orlaith: She was a bridesmaid when she was 16 for her (much older) cousin. She wasn’t a massive drinker in high school, but her cousin got her a fake ID for the hen do, and everyone was doing Jager bombs so Orlaith just…joined in. She ended up the absolute definition of white girl wasted and they had to call Ruairi to come and get her (he was livid) so they could continue the night. The worst part of the whole ordeal was that she had skating practice with Darragh the next day.
Darragh: The most drunk he’s ever been was the prom after-party after his GCSEs. There was an awful lot of cheap vodka, and he and Orlaith had weaselled their way out of skating the next day, and he got black out drunk and (apparently) kissed another girl. The next day he was hit by a migraine and he didn’t pick up on the aura because of his hangover so he couldn’t even take meds for it, and it was the first time in a long time that Orlaith hadn’t come round when he was sick.
Lucas: after what happened with his mum he went through a bit of a rough patch, and one night he went for a drunken walk with a bottle of rum and woke up the next morning on a park bench with absolutely no clue where he was.
