I'm absolutely loving the Subtle Knife but if Pullman uses the names "osprey" and "eagle" interchangeably one more time I'm going to lose my shit. because they are Not The Same Thing. just because they are both large brown raptors does not mean they can be used as interchangeable tags. I live close to water so I've seen both a fair bit: and they are definitely not the same thing and are in fact not too difficult to distinguish (bald eagles versus osprey). why did this slip through the editing? Is it just my edition, and they've changed it since? It's confusing and breaking immersion in this one chapter where it happens at least three or four times (chapter 14, Alamo Gulch). As a bird enthusiast it's grinding my gears. They're not even classified as the same family anymore. If you don't want to keep using the word osprey, use the word "raptor."
Has anyone else noticed this? The internet doesn't seem to bring any solid results of this and it's driving me up the wall.
