ARCANA SPOILER ALERT: UPRIGHT/REVERSED ENDINGS THEORY

So fangirling over this new update aside, has anyone else encountered this in Julian’s route? I literally cannot click the gray option, no matter what I’ve tried, the game simply just doesn’t let me, and the same thing happened earlier in the chapter when the MC realizes it’s Julian in the nightmare (I just couldn’t screenshot it fast enough).

This brings the whole upright and reversed endings back into prospective. I’ve seen people post screenshots of Julian being supportive of the MC fighting back against Valdemar and of Julian realizing that he’s in a nightmare and announcing that he knows his closest friends and family would never say that about him, but none of that happened in my playthrough.

It seems like the upright ending is heading in a direction where Julian learns to be more confident in himself and in the MC by being able to trust and rely on the people he cares for, whereas a still terrified of his loved ones getting hurt and a still haunted by his past Julian is more likely hinting at the reversed ending. From my understanding. Julian constantly being worried for the MC’s wellbeing, even after they’ve proven themselves more than capable time and time again, is a red flag (like dude let your partner kick some demon ass they’ve got this). Though, exactly what moments are key to determining Julian’s potential growth as an individual and as a character are still unclear.

Since, according to my theory, I’m going to end up with the reversed ending at this rate (Julian, forgive me for I have failed you), I’m going to attempt to replay the whole route and see if it changes anything in the later chapters.

I’ll definitely post my findings when I’m done, but I’d love to hear other’s thoughts on this! Let me know how your playthroughs of Julian’s new chapter went! Did you also get gray, unclickable options, and if not, how did the Julian in your playthrough compare to the one in mine?
