Tea for Two and a Piece of Cake
Last evening, there was a book reading of "Tea for Two and a Piece of Cake" by Preeti Shenoy, and a discussion about friendship, modern day living etc.
I was interested. I had heard her name a couple of times, and I had never been to a book-reading before. Our last week's plan to go to the book-reading of "Asura - Tale of the Vanquished" had failed, as I had slept off in the afternoon.
We left on time, but I got confused with the name of the place, and instead of "Easy Lib", we went out, looking for "Books Lib". We obviously didn't find it.
So, after sipping some coffee, and having a few sandwiches, we called up Urmish, to tell us the address.
By the time we reached there, the discussion on "friendship, modern day relationships, marriages" etc was over, and people were asking her questions on her life - How supportive her husband is? How does she take out so much time? What would she prefer to be called ? A writer or an artist?
I haven't read any of her books. I do not follow her blog. The one article I had read on her blog, was a link that was sent to me - this. During the QnA's did I come to know that she paints and quills as well. Makes quite a big deal about her artwork actually.
While we were there, we had mixed feelings about her - frank, confident, slightly arrogant. She said that Life is short and we should make the most out of it. That all her characters teach people how to live life to the fullest. Regular lines. We discussed this on our way back.
When I opened her blog this morning, I somehow expected it to be like Natasha Badhwar's blog. This. Because Preeti said she wrote about "daily things, and happy things".
I was disappointed. From the first few posts that I saw, it looked like a crafter's blog. I am amazed that she even makes quilling cards on order. Why would she do that?
We are going to collect our autographed copies of her book in some time. Let me read it. Maybe then, her impression will change.
