I know the Bookerbeth community is extremely small and borderline dead, but I do wonder; if I were to write even short, little drabbles for those two, would anyone be interested in reading them? Just curious if they would be worth posting or not. To anyone who would be interested, please do let me know! :)

I want to talk about Booker DeWitt and how Elizabeth sees him. She doesn't modify any part of Booker in her head. She keeps him as she remembers him, as he was to her. His dumbass moments, his strength, his resolve, his attitude. But here...

Here she needs him. She needs Booker to guide her to the truth, just as she guided him. Elizabeth needs him to unlock parts of her she wants cut off. She needs him to help her face the end. She needs him to find resolution, no matter the outcome; and she needs him to tell her exactly what she's facing. Elizabeth knows her death is inevitable, and so the Booker in her head does, too. They know she's a dead woman twice over, but Booker only helps her until she reaches that point. After that...

She wants him. Elizabeth, who had spent her entire life alone, wants her only friend back. She wants the man who risked life and limb, who never would have abandoned her again, back. In the final moments as she grasped her reality, Elizabeth just wanted Booker. I'm not going to insert ship content into it because it's deeper than that. Love surely plays a part, but she's so wholely entwined with Booker as her safety net, that if anyone could comfort her in the face of death, it's him.

The big difference between this and her post-BSI state is that during (the first half of) Infinite she had nothing to lose, but everything to gain. She had her tower that bored her out of her mind after 19 years, a giant bird warden she grew to hate, some nice books and... that's about it. And then comes her knight in shining armor, her first ever human friend and a world that was bursting with exciting stuff begging to be explored. Note that among all these new experiences, she still found Booker himself to be the most interesting, she basically bombards him with questions about his personal life.
