Neil Gaiman containment zone
Hey, sorry for being rude, but with the posts here I've noticed a lack of denizens, considering the blog name, that is, so I've decided to ask, what kind of a fight would the Egyptian God Ptah have? And if you wouldn't mind, a Bookkind drop with it?
Hahaha, yeah this was sent like, a week ago. And now there may be too much Denizen stuff in the future instead!.
As for Ptah.. well he’s listed as a god of craftsmen and architecture, as well as having made the entire world and everything within through the power of his hopes and his words. I would have to say he’s most likely Space, with a few shades of Hope. As for a drop...
Truename Registry
“Written by the very gods of craft and creation, this book contains the True Names of everything that exists within the Universe. Be they physical, ephemeral, or conceptual. Unfortunately whoever named everything in the universe decided to use the most long-winded and unpronounceable names ever. They look more like someone mashed a keyboard for entire pages instead of actual words.”
Type: Esoteric Magical Weapon - Damage: High - Attribute: Pulchritude - Range: Short
Features
Words of Power: The book allows the user to bring any object or concept into existence by picturing the effect within their minds and speaking their True Name aloud. This is easier said than done (or is it the other way around?) as each True Name is long enough to fill entire page of a medium sized book, or even more in some cases, and are nigh impossible to pronounce with a mortal tongue. Each effect requires at least a Turn of uninterrupted speech to cast, with more complicated effects taking up to a full Round of monologue. In addition, all effects brought about via the book count as Spells of varying Orders (depends on the effects magnitude), and are thus subject to dispellation. Shenergy costs are cut massively, however. Which is always a plus.

Esoteric Strife Abstratus
Bookkind covers the usage of books of all kinds as weapons. From the trashy magazines left behind by the Player’s Guardian to tomes of ancient knowledge found in the deepest depths of the Land, all these fall under the Bookkind Abstratus.
How Bookkind is used varies from person to person, and then by the specific book being used at the time. Most of the time, the books are used as blunt weapons, and while most were not designed as such, there is a strange satisfaction to be gained from killing a Underlings using that encyclopedia that’s been gathering dust since the dawn of the internet. How much damage this does is determined by how thick the book is and the user’s Mangrit for physical attacks, and Acumen for magic attacks.
Another way of using Bookkind is to use what’s written inside them. This is limited by the content of the book in question. Most simply grant bonuses to certain skills and grant knowledge, more esoteric tomes let the user cast spells, or summon creatures to aid them.
Specibus Types
Most books can be categorized into one of three types:
Encyclopedia: The basic weapons of the Bookkind Abstratus. Mundane tomes fall into this category, they grant the user a bonus either knowledge or skill checks pertaining to the book’s contents.
Grimoire: Books filled with ancient spells or enchanted as a focus for such magery. They allow the user to cast the magic written within them. Anything more complicated than a simple bolt requires Shenergy to cast, and even it has a slight cooldown.
Bestiary: Tomes that detail various creatures, their habits, physiology, and other such information. They allow the user to conjure Familiars from the pages to aid them. They are often limited by the number of Familiars they can supply at a time, their power, and they types of creatures they can summon.
Examples
Dusty Encyclopedia Set
“A set of tomes bought by your Guardian to educate you in the past. They have fallen to the wayside once the internet became accessible enough to usurp their position and have sat gathering dust ever since. At least now they're used for something.”
Type: Esoteric Bludgeoning Weapon - Damage: Medium - Essential Attribute: Mangrit - Range: Melee
Features
Study Material: Grants a boost to Acumen checks involving the book’s contents
Magic For Assholes
“An instruction manual which would allow pretty much anyone to cast magic, so long as they can bear the narrator’s sarcasm and constant berating of the reader’s intelligence.”
This weapon can be used in two ways:
Might - Type: Esoteric Bludgeoning Weapon - Damage: Light - Essential Attribute: Mangrit - Range: Melee
Magic - Type: Esoteric Magic Weapon - Damage: Medium - Essential Attribute: Acumen - Range: Medium
Features
Magic Bolt: Allows the Player to blast others with a bolt of magic. This ability has a short cooldown time after being used a dozen times and requires no Shenergy to cast.
Simple Spells: Allows the Player to learn Spells of the First Order. Each requires time to learn, proportional to their complexity and power, and cost Shenergy to cast. They also require a focus to use, such as a Grimoire, a Stave, or a Wand, having no focus denies them this ability.
BookKind Non-Fiction Book of the Month
The totally ace online booksellers BookKind have chosen ‘How to Lay an Egg with a Horse Inside’ as their Non-Fiction Book of the Month for April. This is doubly good news because every copy sold via BookKind raises money for charity – just select from a range of charitable organisations when you order: https://bookkind.co.uk/book-of-the-month-home/ In celebration, here’s a video of me…
Oh hey, this is interesting. And pretty good. So, to make a request, so i have Marblekind that i use along with Mage of Hope powers, that works like some sort of *Weapon Projection* sort of deal. So with a specific one called the "Reality Marbles", what could it become if alchemized with something like the "Magic Cueball", a so-called "Master Illusionist's Magical Pendulum" (Pendulumkind) or a so-called "A Magician's Book on Tulpamancy" (Bookkind)?
Roger that!
Also, thank you for the clarifications!
Reality Marbles && Magic Cueball: Future Marbles
These marbles only fill with items that will be useful for a task you have in mind. You just don’t know when precisely it will come in handy, nor if the situation will actually present itself. It’s a bit of a gamble, but it might just be worth it. Plus, hey. You can play mini-biliard with these.
... && Master Illusionist’s Magical Pendulum: You Can’t See Me
Thanks to these pendulum-shaped marbles - or are they marble-sized pendulums? - all the items you might conjure are near invisible to the naked eye! The light reflects on them slightly, just enough for you to know they’re there: something your foes are unaware of when they see you barging on them apparently emptyhanded.
... && “A Magician’s Book on Tulpamancy”: Pokémarbles
Ever wanted to mix Pokémon with Ben 10 and play the result in real life? Well, now you can! Choose your favourite from a wide grimoire of wonderful creatures and throw you marble at the opponent, then sit down to enjoy the match. Watch out, however: the effect might wear out while the fight is still on!
... || Magic Cueball: Magic Marble
Ask this minuscule cueball various questions, and holographs will clearly show you the answer without you having to peek into it. A Mage of Hope might expand their Aspect’s and session’s knowledge by getting accurate information to their every doubt thanks to the interaction between this baby and their powers.
... ||Master Illusionist’s Magical Pendulum: The Tiniest Trick
It’s a marble. Or is it...? No, seriously, I don’t know. Unless I am its owner, it looks like everything but a marble to me. I bet if you threw it among your enemies, its strong hallucinogen powers would cause a whole lot of chaos in their ranks!
... || “A Magician’s Book on Tulpamancy”: I n c o s p i c u o u s
Oh! A lovely book! What a wonderful way to open one’s mind to the infinite wonder of learning, a well as hiding items. It’s actually bigger and bulkier than the marbles, which makes it a pain to bring around, but you will look like a cool wizard as you summon your weapons from it.
A story needs, primarily, a beginning, several middles, and a handful of acceptable ends.
