And another thing... when it comes to analogies for how i see Mages versus Seers working, it's like: When it comes to knowing how a (sports) game is played, Mages are the players out on the field, they know the game from playing it; they learn directly from the experience of actually doing it. While Seers are like managers, they know the game from watching it; how the players interact and coordinate, they learn by observing and researching, a kind of more indirect way using outside sources.
The only issue I have with an analogy like that is HOW Mages and Seers Know.
As we gleam from Sollux, he never actively seeks out his Aspect. It is something natural to him, something that happens as a consequence of who he is - e.g. the voices of the Nearly Deceased aren’t something he has to actively find; they’re always there - and as a result he learns more about Doom. Likewise, his main Doom move - the destruction of the Lusii, and the universe as a whole - isn’t actually ascribed to him. He creates the code, sure, but it’s Karkat who makes it happen. Sollux never intends to use it, and he doesn’t actually take part in any of the events that follow (which, while a very Doomy thing to do, since he only sets something into motion, isn’t exactly active). It is this passive act - giving Karkat the code, enabling him to use it later - that makes Sollux Understand Doom.
In contrast, Terezi has to learn Mind - through Dragonmom, through Scratch - and actively seek it out. Nothing will come to her without her own intervention, the way it does with Sollux. She isn’t just immediately aware of Decisions her teammates will make; she has to look for them through the timelines and guide it directly.
To use your football analogy, then, I think it’s more like…
Seers are the ones who go through classes to become footballers. They research daily, they learn every aspect, they figure out every possibility - and then they use what they have learnt out on the field, guiding others and themselves with tactics.
Mages are the ones with natural-born talent; the ones who kick a ball and, through repeated attempts at kicking the ball, figure it out along the way and realise at a young age that they’ve got it. They’ll slip and land on their faces a few times, break a few windows, but they’ll never have to plan ahead - because everything comes to them naturally, or with mistakes.
A Mage’s Aspect naturally finds them and influences them without them actually looking out for it. That’s something we’d usually see as passive, right? Especially when you compare it to how much a Seer has to work with their Aspect to pick it apart. When it comes to the HOW and the WHY, Seers are much more active with a much more active lesson to learn - and Mages almost definitely mirror Heirs in the way their Aspect interacts with them (which, as we know, is seen as the passive Class).
Classpect Mottoes (for tattoos and such)
I got help on my classpect Discord, and I still have the other Aspects to fill out. But here is Heart.
Heir of heart: i’m everything that i am
Seer of heart: i see who you really are
Knight of heart: my soul is my shield
Witch of heart: take advantage of their very selves
Maid of heart: being myself is tiring
Rogue of heart: i can help you know yourself
Page of heart: i’ll grow into a better me
Prince of heart: sometimes you just need to take a break from yourself
Thief of heart: your soul is mine
Sylph of heart: i’ll heal the wounds so you’re yourself again
Mage of heart: been there felt that
Bard of heart: not everyone is who they say they are
Lord of heart: mastering others is strength, mastering oneself is true power.
Muse of heart: I’ll be what you can’t
Mages see how all events converge into a single point, while Seers see how events branch outwards *from* a single point? Mages know how to get to a specific outcome, while Seers know every way an event could turn out? I guess that's the Prophet classes for you.
I agree on the Seer part but the Mage part not so much. There’s nothing in canon to disagree with it but something about just doesn’t jive. We only really have the one Mage to go off of but nothing about Sollux ever really came off of as if visioned his way there. The information a Mage receives about the future seems pretty locked in. These events are going to happen no ifs, ands or buts. In that sense a Mage has a specific outcome and they could get there but I don’t think it extends to I want this outcome and then they suddenly know how to get there. I think it’s more like the Mage is running a race and knows where all the aspect hurdles are ahead of time. They can’t change the course but they can be prepared for the hurdle. For a seer it’s like moving through a maze and having an almost complete map. They know a few dead ends to avoid but some paths might lead to the exit they’re just not sure.
Cute Mage of Hope things if you don't mind?
So Mages of Hope are likely to own some sort of fun instrument, like a harmonica or a miniature harp, and they are big fans of experimentally playing around with it. They truthfully have never learned how to play, but they’re getting very close to playing the opening bit to the Song of Storms perfectly. Well, not perfectly, but at least the notes match!
In times of high stress, The Mage of Hope takes the most effective strategy known to humanity: taking a nap. No, really. To this Hope player, things will eventually get better if they work at it, and there’s no use being frazzled, so they’ll take a mega-refreshing nap whenever they need to. Not only is it helpful to the Mage of Hope, but the way they curl up on the closest soft thing available to just sleep is kinda cute. And by kinda I mean very.
They also love eating cold stuff. These Mages will chug down icy cold water, bite into ice cream, and other wretched things that only polar bears should be able to do. It’s unclear if the Mage of Hope has any nerve endings in their teeth at all, judging by their preference for below freezing treats. They claim the coldness that hits the back of their throat helps with their thirst, and then someone in the background snidely remarks that nothing will ever help the Mage’s thirst.
conceptualarchitect said: How about Pros and Cons for a Mage of Hope? (I really like my imagination-based powers.) And if it's not too much, Mage of Hope getting along (in quadrants?) with Seer of Heart and Heir of Space?
Sure thing!
Pros
You know the ins and outs of hope, which in of itself is really cool
Pessimistic cheerleader who is really good at cheerleading
Probably enjoys debating science vs religion
Hope colour scheme!!
Cons
Tsundere
“I’m not a pessimist, I’m a realist” you’re a pessimist, bud,
Hope colour scheme
Probably doesn’t believe in magic
Seer of Heart: Your Mage and Seer are going to have an ambivalent relationship; both have very strong ideals about their aspects (and since Heart and Hope are both more .... non-physical aspects, there’s some conflicting beliefs) but they won’t hate each other.
Heir of Space: These two would have a strained friendship, based on their classpects alone. They have very different realms of power and very different ways of thinking, which may make a flourishing frienfship quite difficult to achieve. They won’t however, hate each other.

Rage is the aspect of Plot Contrivancy and *bullshit*.
Maybe, but often Gamzee’s anger-inciting, incoherent presence is itself an indication of confusion and anger in the people he haunts
