All sounds had halted, leaving you with a harrowing whistling in your ears. At least it meant you were still alive. But did Zack...?

“Zack?!” You uncovered your head and opened your eyes, looking around the battlefield for a standing figure. And there he was. “Z-Zack...”

He slowly tuned to you, heavily carrying his sword as it dragged along the ground. Despite his exhausted stance and face full of dirt and blood, he heaved a sigh of relief and smiled.

“Y/N” He called you, limping your direction. “How are you?”

“I... I-I, Zack...” You only sobbed, shaking from head to toe.

“Hey” He hurried to close the distance between you and urgently threw an arm around you. “Don’t worry, it’s over, kiddo”

You shielded yourself in his warm and comforting embrace, hiding your face in his chest and quietly sobbing there. He gently shushed you, holding you closer.

A metallic sound let you know that he had dropped his sword, and as soon as he did he wrapped his other arm around you too, encasing you in an even tighter hug.

“We’re okay, buddy” Zack whispered, pressing you against him in an attempt to quiet your sobbing. “We’re safe now, it’s over”

He repeated all those words over and over, but it took you several more seconds to calm down even slightly. It had been the scariest moment of your life, and you couldn’t control your crying. After a bit longer, Zack’s efforts started working.

“There you go” He chuckled a little when he noticed you weren’t crying as much. “Breathe, kid, we’re alright”

“But you’re... you’re... you’re hurt” You stuttered, noticing how much he was fighting his own body to continue standing there with you.

“I’ll be fine” He gingerly pressed his hand against your head. “Nothing some hugs and a good night sleep can’t fix”

“Are you... s-sure?”

“Yeah, don’t worry about me, bud”

“But...”

“And you?” Zack urgently pulled away to carefully take your face in his hands. “Are you hurt?”

Your bottom lip still trembled, but you managed to shake your head in response. Zack smiled, somehow managing to appear bright and cheerful even in that state.

“Good, you’re okay” He tiredly breathed out. “Just a few cuts and bruises here and there”

“Can we go home?” You asked him, tugging at his shirt.

“Sure” He put an arm over your shoulders and started walking. “Let’s go home now”

Hi! So, hypothetically- if you found an abandoned baby out in the cold snow in the 19th century and took it home to care for it, what steps should you take? I’m assuming it has a fever, probably almost frostbitten, etc…

For frostbite in babies, if they can't see a doctor:

Remove wet clothing

Wrap in warm blankets

Feed with a warm (not hot) bottle of milk or water

Soak the areas in warm (not hot) water. If it's not really soakable, such as ears, nose and cheeks, use warm compresses, washcloths or towels for twenty or thirty minutes at a time until color comes back to the skin

Never use hot water or place baby next to a stove, radiator or heater. Don't try to rub or massage the area either. It could make the damage worse

Don't let them crawl or walk on frostbitten fingers or toes

As frostbitten skin warms, it may redden or blister. Be gentle with those areas and keep them consistently warm

You might have already answered something like this and I apologize if you have, but what exactly is apartment life like with the holy trinity? Like, who does what chores, who weasels their way out of chores (cough genesis cough), who constantly loses their keys, who runs the errands, etc? Does Angeal keep a treat jar for whenever Zack invites himself over?

I have answered something similar to this, and I’m working on a follow up, but to answer what I didn’t in that post (:

In general, Angeal is the most likely the one keeping things functioning. He can cook and clean and do laundry and whatnot like a sane, normal person. Genesis thinks chores are beneath him, and Sephiroth is well intentioned but awkward at performing chores normally.

I doubt any of them would lose their keys — esp. if the apartment(s) are in the ShinRa tower with key cards/numeric keypads — but I feel like Angeal’s keys/keycard/whatever would end up in Zack’s hands more frequently than intended. If Zack lived with them too, then he’s absolutely the one losing keys every week.

Angeal absolutely has a treat jar for Zack whether he’s living with them or not. Genesis has swapped the regular treats out for dog treats before and was shocked silent when both Zack and Sephiroth, of all people, didn’t notice.

That anon has never read an actual novel outside of elementary school judging by the points they were trying to make. Details and scenery are everything and there wouldn’t be much of a vision without them. Stories are more than just words that get to a point- they’re an art form meant to be absorbed and enjoyed. Just saying- if you’re having a bad day then don’t take it out on someone with the intention of making them feel bad and know what you’re actually talking about before you say things. Also, going anonymous to spread hate is pretty cowardly and childish. I can almost guarantee that they read your works all the time and don’t want to be blocked because then they’ll have nothing to take their insecurities out on. It’s sad and honestly you’ve gotta hope that they can find a hobby or a passion in life that’ll make them stop being such a miserable fuck. I genuinely hope without any sort of malice or ill will that the anon can grow up and become a better person. Love the way you handle things, Li 💕

i mean-- it's totally okay to have different opinions on writing styles! i personally have put down books that i just couldn't enjoy but you certainly don't see me going to directly email the author or anything. its a matter of personal preference.
