i just read evenings and weekends by oisin mckenna and i loved it!!! i always forget how much i appreciate realism but love seeing natural people in realistic life, observing it the way i do!
I wouldn't say it's a particularly happy book, but i think it ended in the way it needed to, which is always a good outcome :)
content warnings: some explicit content, sexual assault, grief, drug use
"Draggos"????
"Her love for aesthetics"????
Oh. Oh no. :(
@roseofbattles tagged me to list four of my favorite books i've read this year ✨ and omg thank you sm!! i'm ALWAYS down to discuss my besties. i've read so many bangers this year but these are my top ones 👏 (very fantasy heavy haha i love it!)
1. a fate of wrath and flame - actually a reread! from 2022. this is the book which got me back into reading fantasy and ka tucker. the author that you are!!! absolutely sensational. the world??? the magic system?? the POLITICS ✨ the world building? and finally the relationship!!!! 😩🙌 STUNNING IN EVERY WAY. I ADORE IT SO MUCH ROLL ON BOOK 4 IN SEPTEMBER (i'm not ready for it to end 😭)
2. a simple wild - i knew going in i was going to be rocked and honestly. HONESTLY. KA TUCKER THE AUTHOR THAT YOU ARE. i bawled like a baby. through all 4 books. 10/10. no notes. perfection
3. the mist thief - SO. this is a second generation series and features the grown up kids from the first series (broken kingdoms). and oh my god. OH MY GOD. EVERYTHING I DREAMED OF AND MORE. i read along with the parents in their own struggles and battles in the initial series. and seeing them years on (both for me and in world), working with their own kids?? 😩 i had the put the book down multiple times bc it was Too Much but in the best way!! i had a BLAST
4. a far wilder magic - 10/10. no notes. if you know you know.

/gen very happy like no one (that I’ve seen so far) in the Freakblr community knows what it is so I just think it’s very cool :D
I LOVEEEE WINGS OF FIRE AAAAA
Back in third grade, when style theory wasnt a thing, me and my gay awakening girl crush (my best friend) did girls on the run together, but we would never run. We’d bring in these books and do ‘book theory’ together, where we’d carry them up and down the west virginia hills, pick onion grass, and theorise about these damn books together. Those were the days man, those were the days. (We’d sit down and eat the grass unwashed together)
So good to see other people in it! I haven’t read it in so long, i /gen really need to reread it, however, My mine-craft dog is named Tsunami, she’s my favourite! ^^
god i love books i’m just looking at all the books i have in my room and it’s just so ugh books are just so pretty and nice thank you books for being books
