Hello, i saw your post about rp blogs, it was helpfull but after reading it im still confuses on a few things, like how do you find someone to rpwith, and like do the ppl runing the blogs collaborate out of character first or qhat? Im confused.
// Hello! Now then these are just general ideas based on my own personal experience. I will note that not every roleplayer is the same, and you want to keep an open mind.
First, I would recommend following dear-indies as they have lots of things there to help out Rpers, especially new ones, they are nice and very helpful. They have lists of who is RPing characters from what fandom. That will help you find Rpers.
Have a description of your character. While not required, if you are playing an OC, its a really good idea so people know how to respond to your character. It helps you, to keep your own character in mind.
Then, if the person you like has guidelines or rules, its really a great idea to read them before you approach them about rping. They are there to make sure you know what to expect, and so you can see if it would be someone that might be compatible for you to roleplay with.
Next, you can send them an ask, or if they have been posting meme's select something from a meme to potentially start an RP with. Most RPers are absolutely thrilled if someone asks them about rp, and ecstatic to find someone that has actually read their guidelines/rules if they have them. If you are approaching someone to ask them to RP with you, it is a good idea to have in mind an idea(s) of what you might want to do, and be prepared to write the starter. You are approaching them, so while many can, and will, plot with you, having a general idea to start with is good. It shows them you are willing to put the effort in, and you respect their time and energy.
You can search the Open RP tag. If the person you want to rp/are following writes an open RP, go for it. That is what an Open RP is there for. Many people get discouraged if no one responds to their Open Rps. If you find something that you want to respond to, go ahead and respond to it.
Post meme's that you like. Invite people to respond to you, or approach you.
Don't get discouraged. Sometimes tumblr eats asks. Sometimes its just not the right fit between characters, sometimes a mun already has more than they can handle. It can be difficult to get started, but keep trying. There is an niche for just every kind of RPer out there.
Remember this is a hobby for you, and for the mun behind the other character. Its supposed to be fun, for you and for them. This is a really key thing to keep in mind.
Be polite, it's my personal philosophy to try to be kind, and try not to be demanding. Again, back to the its supposed to be fun. The more fun you make it for the other person and you, the more you will enjoy it. Even if your characters are being brats, as long as the muns are having fun, it is all good.
I hope you found this helpful!
