“Benedict.” He gently corrected as he made his way next to her. Sophie slightly moved back as he entered her space— not because she felt uncomfortable with him, quite the opposite. Instinctly, she wanted to be closer to him. Rationally, Sophie had no idea as to why she felt this way. “Call me Benedict, please.”

“Benedict.” Sophie resolved, feeling the weight of his name.

BOOnophie Halloween Fest || Swan Lake AU

For: @benophiefest

The wicked stepmother, Araminta, cast a spell on her step daughter, Sophie.

She was far too beautiful, so much so that she overshadowed her own daughters: Rosamund and Posy.

To prevent this, her spell turns Sophie into a swan during the day time, only turning back into her human form at sunset.

And on top of that, she has been forced to act as a servant so that she may not enjoy the nighttime soirees of the Ton.

Sophie felt hopeless until one night, a fellow servant emboldened her to attend the esteemed Bridgerton's masquerade ball.

She wore a stunning silver gown with feather detailings, and her mask had swan feathers decorating it.

Everyone thought Sophie was stunning, including none other than Mr. Benedict Bridgerton.

The two were instantly captivated, sharing dance after dance the whole night through.

The ball was magical, and the festivities seemed to go on forever.

In fact, Sophie didn't even realize what time it was until the clock began to chime.

"It is morning already?" Sophie asked in alarm, seeing the telling signs that the sun was about to rise.

Benedict was stunned when Sophie ran off, leaving behind her white satin glove- the same glove he had taken off as he held her hand and declared his intentions to meet her family and court her properly.

But Sophie could not let that happen.

He was the second son of an esteemed family, and Sophie? She was just a servant girl with a horrible secret.

He chased after her as she ran outside, yelling and pleading that she wait and at least give him her name.

She pushed through the doors, the sun just beginning to rise. And just like clockwork, her body shifted and she was turned into a delicate, white swan.

Sophie turned her head as she heard Benedict's yelling, and she quickly took off into flight as she raced to get home.

Benedict swung the doors open, his eyebrows furrowed as he saw nothing there, as if Sophie had vanished into thin air.

The only thing left was the vision of a swan, majestically flying off into the distance.
