I’m not really sure if this is going to work (good lord I hope it does bc my askbox is pretty empty >~<) but I’ll be hosting a boosting event! But because this is an angst centric blog, it’ll be a little different! It’s simple, all you have to do is:
1. Follow this blog
2. Reblog this post
3. Drop an ask with your mbti personality and just a brief description of yourself + send in a one word prompt, as well as which fandom characters you’d like to be paired up with!
E.g (INFP, brief description of yourself, one word prompt, BNHA or Haikyuu!!)
What’s going to happen is that I’ll be matching you guys up with characters of the fandom of your choice, and I’ll write a short little scenario based off the prompt you gave! So depending on your prompt, the scenario you get can be on different ends of the spectrum!
I’ll be taking eight of these as a test run first, so hurry and request away! Once I’ve hit eight, I’ll close the ask box until I get most of them done (unless this askbox continues to be bare, i’ll just hide in a corner when that happens)
Oh! And fret not, for the requests I’ve received before this event, I’m still working on them! I hope you guys have fun ^^💓
for you, @ninjakitty4642! i hope you enjoy (for some reason tumblr isn’t letting me tag you grrr) but on to it! this one was a little tough, i was kinda torn with matching you with either Sugawara or Akiteru, but i eventually decided to go with Akiteru! i’ve also placed the scenario under the cut because it got a liiiittle too long. i hope you enjoy this nonetheless!
I match you with Akiteru Tsukishima! He’d be rather surprised at your height, I mean, it’s not every day he sees someone so tall, especially a girl! But he has nothing against that, in fact, he’d be impressed and curious, immediately wondering if you played volleyball given your height. Even if you didn’t, you’d have made quite an impression on him!
Besides, he’s a very determined individual, and since INFJs are perfectionists and determined too, he’d greatly understand your want to do something well and right, and would support you in whatever way he can help!
Because of the fact that you two have some similarities, along with his perceptive nature, he’d probably be able to easily pick out on signs that you’re pushing yourself too far and getting too burnt out (especially by uni because that isn’t easy) and you can probably do the same too! So it offers a nice balance between you two.
He’d totally support your hobbies, geeking out with you — he’s abit of a goofball, even if what you like isn’t exactly what he likes, he’d still try to keep up with them, because he loves seeing your smile the most!
Your first impression of Akiteru wasn’t… exactly the greatest.
With sunglasses, a cap and a mask on, he looked absolutely suspicious. Honestly? He looked nothing short of a terrorist, and you briefly wondered if he was genuinely up to no good, something you didn’t want to tolerate, seeing how you had been looking forward to watching the match between Karasuno High and Shiratorizawa. Karasuno High wasn’t a name you’ve heard in the recent years, and you were curious to watch their play. Besides, volleyball matches had the tendency to rile you up in a good way, which is why you definitely did not want to miss this match.
Casting his figure at the entrance pacing around slightly frantically, you assessed him one more time, before deciding that he probably wouldn’t try anything. Or at least, you hoped he wouldn’t.
Moving along with the crowd, you enter the stadium, looking for a seat that had the best view, one that allowed you to have a clear view of both teams, and preferably away from majority of this crowd. It wasn’t long before that seat was found, and you made a beeline towards it, settling down, the bare seats around you easing you a little-
You spoke too soon. The boy with shades settle down frantically next to you, his clammy hands gripping his shirt, fisting his hands into balls. Seeing that, you shifted slightly, moving away from him.
Why is he so close? And why, of all people, does it have to be him beside me?
Mild irritation rises in your chest, but you tried your hardest to quell it. Instead, you blow out a breath, deciding to focus your attention on the court, though still empty. The boy next to you notices your move, and turns to look at you.
His gaze lingers longer than expected. In fact, you weren’t even sure why he was staring in the first place — you didn’t know him and you didn’t do anything to offend him… probably.
“Uh, excuse me?” Breaking the silence, you finally tear your eyes away from the court, placing them on this mysterious guy instead. “Is there something wrong?”
“Hm? I… uh, there’s nothing wrong?” His voice comes out muffled, but even so, you could pick out how his voice raised towards the end.
“…You sound like you aren’t sure of yourself. Did I do something to offend you?”
At that, he splutters a little.
“What? No, of course not! I just didn’t expect to see you here!”
“You know me? I don’t think I remember befriending a terrorist looking guy…”
“Terrorist?” A deep chuckle escapes, and you tilt your head quizzically, trying to recall if you had actually befriended someone that shady.
“I mean, you look like one…”
“I’m studying in the same university as you,” he states, moving to remove his cap, ruffling his hair slightly. “We actually share a few classes, I’ve just never gotten the chance to talk to you.”
You frown. “Why not? I mean, I don’t bite, at least I don’t think I do.”
“It’s just, I just haven’t been able to move past just observing you,” he admits, a nonchalant shrug, before he remembers the person he’s talking to. In an instance, he goes rigid, hands clenching his shirt tighter, knuckles turning white.
“Observing…? That sounds a little stalkerish, don’t you think?” you joke, slowly getting more engaged into conversing with him. He was nervous, and it was rather amusing to watch his reactions. What he just said was obviously unintended, but you weren’t too perturbed by it.
He draws up a blank, mind now swirling with possible things he could say to save the situation. Hemming and hawing, he inhales, stuttering out a response. “Ha…ha, I guess so?”
Shit! That wasn’t intended! Now I’m going to be branded a stalker, I swear I just really like her, I mean, for awhile now! Has it been a year? Or was it more? Ah, I don’t know… But I can’t exactly tell her that I like her and just, gah! I don’t have the guts to confess, at least not yet, because she’s everything I like and I just… I don’t think she’ll be interested in me. Oh man, and I just had to blow all my chances, craaap-
After a moment of silence, a giggle slips out of your mouth, cutting short the thoughts running in his mind.
“Well then, Mr. Stalker,” you say, a teasing glint in your eyes. “Care to tell me your name? I think I should know the name of the one stalking me.”
Akiteru breathes a sigh of relief. At least she sees it as a joke, plus she doesn’t know about me liking her… all’s good…
“My name is Akiteru,” he beams, sticking out a hand for you to shake. Gripping it, you smile.
the first event ask for @00fabolous!! i originally intended for it to be fluffy, but i wanted to see how i could twist it, so i somehow ended up with a kinda angsty scenario… i still hope you enjoy it though (≧∇≦)
I match you up with Kirishima Eijiro! Here’s a little bit on why I chose to pair you up with him. Your personality would be likely to mesh well with Kirishima — I think that he’d really admire your drive to work hard to achieve your goals, in his eyes, determination is something he respects greatly. His outgoing personality would do well in getting past your reserved personality, you’d be comfortable around him, and for Kirishima, it isn’t hard for him to just approach someone and talk to them. In general, I think the two of you share common traits that is likely to become common ground for you two, allowing the both of you to have a mutual understanding of each others behaviour and actions.
The smell of roasted beans wafts into your nose, tingling every sense in your body. Soft clinking sounds from the machine behind the bar mixed with the ambient music, the lull of people voices loosening the bundle of nerves pulled tight within you.
People-watching was one of your hobbies — it was really fascinating to see the expressions of people as they go about doing the most mundane of things in their lives, allowing you to be privy to their thoughts. Children, among all the age groups you’ve observed, were one of the groups you absolutely adored. The childlike innocence present in their eyes were pure, untainted, with their thoughts being the most simplest of worries that adults wouldn’t even dare to waste their time bothering with.
Adults, on the other hand, naturally differed from children. What was once childlike innocence was now replaced with varying issues, taking the forms of worry, anxiety, clinging onto them like a leech. People become more pragmatic the older they grow, being taught to fit into society, with the main goal of surviving in this society and if possible, coming out top.
There was nothing wrong with that — you were no different, or at least you had perceived yourself as such, and you had thought everyone fitted the mould you had created for each category. Until you met Kirishima, no one had ever really broken out of the mould you’ve set, and now thinking about it, he was never really the same as others, right from the first time you met him.
Kicking your legs into a position that allowed more comfort, you leaned back into the booth you were settled in, eyes returning back to the picture of the grinning redhead on your phone screen. Gently caressing the picture with your thumb, you take a sip of your cold coffee, a shaky sigh pushing past your lips. You loved every part of Kirishima — his flaws, his strengths… he was truly a wonder, a blessing that had somehow coincided with your life.
With brute strength, he had managed to break out of the mould you created. Was it something good? At that time, probably. But now… all that did was leave you with haunting memories of him that you desperately tried to kick, because he became proof that he was the only one who differed. No one else had managed to prove your beliefs wrong, and you were convinced that it’d stay this way for a long time to come.
The bitterness of the coffee spreads in your mouth, coating and lingering in every nook and cranny of your mouth, and you cringe a little. Bitter wasn’t a flavour for you, but it was the only uncharted territory you hadn’t explored with Kirishima. That in itself, offered a form of solace that you needed.
“I guess today is the day my love will expire for you,” you murmur, hoping that at the very least, what you were about to do would finally settle the turmoil in your heart.
A bouquet of flower, along with a card rests in your hands and you stand, walking gingerly to the exit of the cafe.
I’m sorry but please… forgive me for choosing to let go of you.
for you, you sweet soul @shamelessly-shameless-rayne! i hope you enjoy this one!
I match you with Midoriya Izuku! You bear so much resemblance to him, and I think your personality would be one that would suit him well! Your talkative and hyper nature may intimidate him slightly at first, but it’ll be one of the things he comes to really love about you!
Your ability to find the good in things is something he really admires — a very cute trait of yours that really helps him alot, especially as someone who aspires to be a pro-hero, he’s often faced with challenges and these may set him back. But this trait of yours would really help him in overcoming these challenges, bringing him back up emotionally so that he’s not overwhelmed and bogged down by them.
You liking to care for others is something he totally favours! He himself enjoys to care for others, offering them support when needed, and to know that you are similar to him in this regard really makes him swell with happiness — he’s kinda proud as he deems being caring as something heroic, and he’s elated that you have a quality he admires so greatly, one he can relate to.
Plus, you being persistent and chasing after your dreams, picking yourself up quickly when you fall, is also another thing that he can understand, because he is just like that! That’s why he’ll always be in favour of you not giving up on your dreams and will be your #1 supporter, doing his best to help you! Since he’s on his own road to his dream, he’s aware of how hard it is and he definitely hopes you will be able to attain yours.
Because of your similarities, I think you two will be able to bring out the best in each other and help each other out when needed, but also knowing when not to, striking a nice balance!
“Couldn’t you just hear me out for once?” you grit out, eyes brimming with tears of frustration. Your boyfriend sits on the couch in your room, tendrils of smoke from the cigarette sitting between his index and middle finger coiling and floating into the air, before dissipating into nothing. The putrid smell of smoke enters your nose, causing your airways to feel so papery and dry.
“I told you to stop smoking in my room! You never listen, I really dislike the smell of cigarettes in my room, and I-”
He cuts you off with a languid move, smoothly drawing in a breath from the tip of the cigarette, before stepping in front of you, blowing tuffs of smoke right in your face.
“You don’t have to like it. I do, and that’s all that matters,” he grins, teeth stained yellow from the excessive smoking he does.
“But this is my room we’re in!”
“So? You’re just a girl, I think what I say weighs more than anything you spout from that pretty little mouth of yours.”
How did things turn out like this? If there was any indication that he’d turn out like that, you wouldn’t have dated him. He has complete disregard for you, capable as you were. In his eyes, you were nothing more than a girl, a toy, a property.
You should’ve picked up on the signs quicker, but you didn’t. Blinded by fondness, you suppose. There was really nothing you had to say to the crumbling relationship you two had now. By the time you did realise, things had already progressed to this state. The word ‘tired’ didn’t even come close to how you actually felt towards this — yet somehow you were rather unwilling to let go of this relationship, perhaps because it has been 2 years of dating? You had been trying to revive things, and on good days, it definitely seemed like things would work, and everything would return to how it was at the very beginning.
However, right now, you could feel your hold on this relationship slowly slipping away. It was toxic, you recognised, and there wasn’t really a point to holding on to a crumbling relationship if you were the only one trying. It takes two hands to clap, and if all he does is put you down and degrade you, then why should you try to keep everything afloat? The more you wondered, the more absurd your reaction seemed to be. Was it because of old-times sake, that you held on so tight?
No…
It was guilt. Guilt that he had changed for the worse, guilt that shouldn’t be shouldered by you, and yet it was. All because you felt responsible for his actions and change. But you fail to see that everything he has done, is all a product of his work. It wasn’t your fault, so why do you keep thinking it is?
Swiftly taking the last drag of smoke, he jams his cigarette into the ashtray he brought over. Then, he slips an arm around your waist, pulling you close to him — only for you to halt him by sticking your arm against his chest.
“No.”
“Why not?” His nostril flares, voice coming out rough. “I’m your boyfriend and I should be able to do this.”
“My boyfriend? Guess what, now you aren’t,” you say, harshly shoving him off of you before running out of your house.
Bumping into Midoriya wasn’t something you expected would happen.
Much less with puffy eyes and a sniffling nose.
He was excited to see you, and you would’ve reciprocated the feeling if not for how you looked. Probably another reason why you felt like you couldn’t leave your boyfriend. Midoriya was someone you had mixed feelings about. At some point, you weren’t sure if you merely admire him or genuinely like him, and right now, your feelings for him were, safe to say, a muddled mess.
Why of all times…
Embarrassment colours your cheeks red, and you pull your scarf higher, the frigid winter breeze doing nothing to help your dripping nose.
“I didn’t expect to bump into you here!” he exclaims, surprise and nervousness evident in his tone. “What are you doing here?”
Please don’t ask me that…
Midoriya continues obliviously. ”I was just out for a ru-” He cuts short his sentence as he finally takes a good look at you, piecing the information together. Sniffling and puffy eyes… “Wait…were you… were you crying?” He questions uncertainly as it dawned on him.
“W-what… what happened? Do you want to talk about it?”
At that, it was as though the floodgates had opened, and you let out a shaky breath, tears streaming down your face naturally, quicker than ever. Midoriya becomes flustered, hands flailing around frantically. “Please don’t cry! I uh, I… I don’t have tissues! Uh-”
Raising his hand, he wipes at your eyes with the ends of his jacket. “I hope you don’t mind… This is the only thing I have,” he says worriedly, eyes fixated on you.
“I…” you mumble after awhile. “I broke up with my boyfriend.”
“O-oh.”
“Yeah, he was quite the asshole,” you chuckle cynically, grimacing at how your voice came out. “I just… I tried to find the good in him, you know? Despite everything…”
Talking to Midoriya was oddly therapeutic. The bundle of nerves that was wounded tightly in you were slowly loosening as you continued, his ever fluctuating expressions though amusing, worked mysteriously in calming you down.
“All I asked was for him to see me as another human being, as an equal, but he couldn’t do that. He couldn’t,” you cast your eyes downwards, trying to blink away the tears pooling in your eyes. You didn’t want to cry any longer, not for that jerk.
Midoriya shuffles around, and you see him twist his hands together, before pulling them apart and repeating. It’s then you register that he was probably uncomfortable, immediately scrambling to apologise.
“I-I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable with my-”
Just then, Midoriya pulls you into a tight hug, causing a yelp to erupt from you. “I…” he says firmly, arms holding you in a secure hug. “If he doesn’t appreciate you, then I will. I-I’ll protect you.”
Blood rushes to your face, a heated blush spreading like wildfire across the apple of your cheeks, your heartbeat beating loud and clear. You prayed that Midoriya couldn’t hear your heartbeat, all while multiple thoughts swam in your head.
for you, @coldtodoroki !! this is so, so, so late and i am so sorry about that dear! i’m super slow with this, i hope you forgive me aaaa :( this got preeetty long, but i hope you’ll still enjoy it!💙
I match you with miracle boy, Tendō Satori! For Tendō, I think he’d be a good match because he’s more on the extroverted side and you on the introverted side, so I think this notion of opposites attract does apply here! When you two first meet, you shyness and awkwardness won’t be much of an issue to him, his loud and cheerful personality would help in breaking the ice.
In a sense, you’d be similar to Ushijima in certain areas, as INTPs can be slightly blunt, so he’s not deterred by your bluntness, seeing how he has a close friend like Ushijima. Since you mention that you become more fun after knowing someone, he’d greatly appreciate and enjoy your presence, he likes having fun and your relationship will rarely have any dull moments!
His teasing nature would come in handy when you space out — when you’re so lost in your thoughts, he’d enjoy admiring your facial features before opting to snap you out of your thoughts through his teasing.
On another note, I think his playing style in volleyball also aids in your relationship! Since what he does is guess blocking, what that requires is very careful observation of details, and because of your initial withdrawn nature, he’d be able to pick up the small details that others won’t normally be able to pick up, which cultivates the trust and eventually draws you closer to him. Because of this, you’d feel more comfy with him over time as well!
As you both proceed into a romantic relationship, his knack for picking up small details also helps in reducing misunderstandings and conflicts! I also believe that your analytic side would work well with him, since he is also someone who is quite analytic!
Also, he’d absolutely love watching you draw! There’s something mesmerising with the way you move your hand and fingers, and he likes admiring that!
Overall, I feel like you two would bring out the best of each other, you might be slightly more open with others with his influence, and he’ll mellow out a little (his team mates would appreciate that!) or it could go the other way, with the both of you being the power couple that goes around teasing others muahaha
Another character that you can also be paired with will be Bokuto Kōtarō!
The crushed wrapper sits in balls, surrounding your hunched figure in a neat circle.
This isn’t it… this isn’t it!
With only a few hours till your first date with him, you weren’t frazzled over your outfit, neither were you flustered about your makeup or hair — there was something more important, and that was the gift for Tendō, since your first date coincidentally fell on the day of his birthday.
Now, sleepy butterflies were beginning to stir in your stomach, and you press it gently, trying to calm the previously dormant nerves. You were only trying to wrap the box that would eventually hold the gift, but every way the wrapper twisted just didn’t seem to sit well with you.
Ripping the wrapper for the umpteenth time, you crush it, tossing it on the ground without a care. At this point, you weren’t even sure if he’d like your gift, since cooking wasn’t exactly… your forte.
Okay, I still have got 3 hours, you think, flipping your phone over, checking the time to ensure that you had kept track of the time correctly. 17:25. Ah, that’s right, there’s still-
Wait. 17:25? Tendō was coming by to pick you up at 18:00… Oh shit. Your place had gift wrappers strewn everywhere, your sketchbook not far from you, since you had decided to pull it out to pen down a few sketches, with the stress of wrapping frustrating you. Another one of his gifts sits in between the pages, but that wasn’t nearly as ready as you’d have liked, so you decided that would be a belated gift instead.
Eventually, you decide to wrap the wrapper without much thought, I mean, it’s the gift that counts, right? As for the wrapper… well, it’s the thought that counts! Quickly running to your room, you frantically sift through the clothing you had, trying to pick the best one for the date tonight.
All Tendō said, was to be comfortable, so you chose a very simple pair of jeans and a nice blouse, with the cold of the approaching winter biting into any exposed skin.
Sometimes, you wondered if Tendō had the ability to see into the future, picking the absolute best times to drop by or carry out whatever pranks he had up his sleeves. Your shirt had barely rolled down, past your belly, and the doorbell rings, your hair still uncombed and face bare. Picking a brush, you walk briskly towards the door, hairbrush in your hair.
“Coming! I’m coming! Damn it Satori, I’m almost there! Stop ringing the bell!” you let out a small laugh, bits of the stress of the preparations floating away from you. Swinging the door open, you huff, pulling the hair brush out of your hair. Tendō had surprised you —he looked dashing, even though he was clad simply in dark jeans and a casual shirt, thick scarf wrapped around his neck. A small box sits in his hand, and he stands there, little puffs of white clouds appearing as he speaks.
“Hmm, you look great,” he jests, eyes scanning you from head to toe. Despite how the words were delivered, they were the truth, and you could tell with the smallest shift in his feet, turning them away from you slightly.
“I could say the same to you,” you grin, the mess sitting right behind you temporarily slipping your mind.
Tendō smirks, a haughty hmph escaping his lips. “Why of course! Anyway,” he takes a small step back, holding out the box in his hand. “Here, a gift for you.”
If there was anything you should have learnt from being friends with Tendō, it’s that he rarely does anything without reason. So the fact that you chose to pull off the ribbon on the box with such eagerness was a huge mistake on your part. Pop! Something springs out, tapping you between your eyes, a bunch of flowers springing out along with it, falling like confetti. You splutter a little, eyes growing wide.
“Tendō…”
“A little gift for you! It wouldn’t be right to turn up to a date empty-handed.”
“Not this way! You could’ve just given the flowers like any norm-”
“Then that’d be so boring, don’t you agree?”
A small smile forces its way onto your face, and he knows you couldn’t help but agree. It was one of those things that you both enjoy, which meshed your personalities together pretty well. Well enough to land you two into a romantic relationship.
“…True.”
“Aren’t you going to invite me in? It’s really cold out here,” he shivers dramatically, wrapping his arms around himself.
“Oh, right!” Swiftly stepping aside, you let him in, closing the door. Then you hear a gasp erupting from him, and everything comes flooding back immediately. Wait, shit!
“Actually, you know what? Uh, why not you wait outside for me, I uh-”
“You have great taste in wrapping paper,” he comments, spinning round to toss you a cheeky grin. “Yeah? I though rubber duckies would be great for your… uh, personality?” You move quickly to pick up the wrapped box, hiding it behind your back and slowly skirting the edges of the living room to get to the freezer in the kitchen.
“__? Where are you going?”
“Just, gotta get something!”
A decent sized tub sits inside the freezer, a post it stuck onto it. For Satori, it read, with a heart next to it. You tear the paper and toss it aside, cheeks beginning to burn. Carefully putting the tub inside the wrapped box, you jog out to the living room, fingers tugging a little at the wrapper in nervousness. Cooking or baking, whatever it was, wasn’t something you did often and this chocolate ice cream sitting in your hand took multiple trials and errors before getting to where it was now.
“Hey Tendō,” you breathe, clearing your throat and finally looking up to locate him.
“I… I didn’t know you loved me that much to have such a huge drawing of me done,” he says, eyes twinkling in admiration, joy and… adoration? “Oh, and it even says ‘happy birthday Satori!’ completed with a heart! Wow~”
“Oh my god, you weren’t supposed to see that!” You rush forward, desperately wanting to rip that piece of drawing, and the sketchbook in his hands. He doesn’t seem to have seen the drawings in there, you think, brief relief settling in your heart. And then — “Oh, there’s more in there? If I didn’t know you, I’d have thought that you’re my stalker!”
“Argh!” If things weren’t going swimmingly before, now it definitely went from bad to worse. With a kick to your other leg, you trip over yourself, the box in your hand wobbling, the cover popping off with excitement, some melted chocolate ice cream drenching your hand.
“No! That was your birthday present I spent ages preparing, and now it’s…” Frustration builds up once more, and you slump to the ground, angry tears stinging your eyes. There was no way for you to rub your eyes without getting chocolate on them, and that had only served in making you feel more annoyed.
You couldn’t help the huff of exasperation that left you, at this point, it seemed like all your efforts were for naught, and frankly, it sucked feeling that way.
The feeling of someone’s tongue on your wrist jolts you, and you look up in time to catch him savour the taste of your homemade ice cream.
“It’s a little salty.”
“Perfect!” You retort. “It’s just like me, salty and un-”
“Hm, but I like the taste a ton, tastes pretty lovable to me. More importantly,” he leans in, whispering into your ears. The close proximity was more than enough to make you blush, and so, you do.
“You made it. It’s my birthday gift, isn’t it?”
All you could offer was a muted nod. He laughs beside your ear, soft breaths tickling the shell of it.
“No wonder it’s one of the best gifts I could’ve ever asked for.”
this one’s for you, @kenmqs! ngl, my heart kinda went poofed at this, so i hope you like it as much as i do! also, yama looks so cute here aaa
I match you with Yamaguchi Tadashi! Honestly I was so tempted to match you with Tsukishima! I think it is pretty fair game, I can see you with either one of them, for Tsukishima, it would be mainly because the moment I read your info, I thought of him immediately! For some reason, I feel like you are super similar to Tsukishima, that was why I was going to pair you up with him.
But I think Yamaguchi would be able to handle your coping mechanism of making dark jokes — I mean, Tsukishima isn’t exactly the brightest person he knows, so he’d definitely be able to get a grip on this!
Plus, being shy is something he understands, and though it might be a mini problem during the initial meeting and afterwards, possibly when you two are trying to grow closer, but afterwards, befriending him; dating him would be something that puts you at ease.
He’d be likely to note that you have trust issues, but he’s not one to shy away — Tsukishima himself isn’t the easiest person to befriend, so if he can manage him, and if he really wants to befriend you, he’ll definitely work at it, more so when he’s interested in you!
One thing I think he’d do is definitely push a little, when he thinks its necessary. So if you have a crush on him and begin to distance yourself, he’s happy to give you the space you ask for, but when push comes to shove, he’s determined and definitely not afraid of taking the initiative to close the gap!
His was a smell that was extremely distinct — even after spending time in the washing machine and dryer, the blanket you shared with Yamaguchi still had his unique faint scent clinging onto it. Though, you could tell the smell was fading, with it losing the mildest of tones with each passing day, and you were well aware that the day until it disappears wasn’t too far away.
Still, it was a habit for you to hide under the blanket you two shared, pressing the soft cotton against your nose, beneath the moonlight that shone into the bedroom.
“Yamaguchi…” you groan, feeling the familiar wetness sneak up on you, behind your closed eyelids. It’s been a few months since then; since the last time you saw him. You click a button on your phone, fingers moving to the exact buttons you had memorised, committed to your brain. What you were doing would bring you the briefest relief, only temporary, yet relief nonetheless. At least it was enough to tide you over the night — night time was one of the hardest times to spend alone, the loneliness predatory-like, seeking to consume you whole.
In the day, you had the luxury of the company of your friends, the luxury of work taking your mind off things. But at night, when darkness is at its peak and there was nothing but an empty house awaiting your arrival, there was simply nothing that could help quell the heaviness in your heart.
“Hey __,” Yamaguchi voice plays, and your bottom lip wobbles, causing you to bite onto it harshly. A simple word like that could affect you so greatly; something that was foreign before he came along.
It was childish of you, or so you thought, to be missing someone to the point of tears. Gripping the green coloured blanket - the colour of Yamaguchi’s hair - you pulled it all the way up so that you were engulfed by it completely.
“…I have to go now,” the voice recording continues, your breaths now slowly transforming into hiccups. “But you know…” he trails off, a mini chuckle thrown in for good measure, and you feel your heart swell for the umpteenth time while listening to this recording.
“Everyday you fail to leave my mind, and I find myself thinking about you all the time. It’s times like this that I realise… I love you. I am in love with you. So utterly in love with you.”
The recording cuts off, and you’re left alone in the silence, mind numb, left to wonder when you would stop feeling the way you felt now. You missed him. Terribly so. Every time you heard this recording, you could visualise the small blush that creeps onto his freckled cheeks. Perhaps the most surprising thing of all, was the fact that he didn’t stutter, but Yamaguchi had the tendency to surprise you in the most unexpected ways.
There were multiple times you were certain that he’d left you for good, never to return. After all, the world out there is an oyster, and Yamaguchi had all the reason to drop you and find someone else.
Someone better.
You didn’t want to think that way. A buzz breaks you out of your thoughts, exhaustion slowly creeping onto you, threatening to pull the rug from under you at any given moment. The phone screen flashes, a contact reading unknown displayed on the screen. In your sleep induced haze, you pressed the answer button, murmuring a croaky sounding ‘hey’.
Some crackling sounds from the phone, the voice that came through undistinguishable, since it was so distorted and constantly cut-off. Frowning, you repeat. “Hello?”
His live voice was something unheard for months, yet the moment it came through clearly, you feel fresh tears spring to your eyes. Months of not hearing from him, not seeing him, months of worrying and fretting — they now seemed so minuscule and insignificant, shoved to the back of your brain without hesitation.
“Hey __,” he huffs, glee slipping from his voice, amidst the tiredness. “I’m home.”
