Rules: In a text post, list ten books that have stayed with you in some way. Don’t take but a few minutes, and don’t think too hard — they don’t have to be the “right” or “great” works, just the ones that have touched you. Tag ten friends, including me, so I’ll see your list. Make sure you let your friends know you’ve tagged them.

OH MY GOD YOU TAGGED ME IN A BOOK THING THANK YOU SO MUCH I LOVE YOU, CAN I GIVE EXPLANATIONS TOO? I'M SAYING YES.
I'm totally overthinking this I'm sorry
1) The Forest of Hands & Teeth Trilogy by Carrie Ryan
I'm including all three books because separating them feels wrong. I read these books in high school, freshman year. I went through a phase of just buying random books from Barnes & Noble. This was the beginning of that phase. The first one came at a time in my life when I didn't have a lot of friends. I had just started high school and I kept to myself most of the time so I read a lot. I connected with Mary because we both felt alone. Granted, her case was bit more extreme than mine.
2) Wake by Lisa McMann (technically the trilogy too but the 2nd and 3rd are not as good as the first)
Another one from my "Random Buying" phase. The writing was simple and let's you kind of add things with your own imagination with ease. It's open-ended writing (I don't know if that's actually a thing but that's what I'm calling it) Janie gets sucked into other people's dreams and she doesn't know why. She has no control over it. It mirrors how your life can be going in all kinds of directions and you feel like you have no control. The bad times are the worst so you just have to ride it out. Eventually she gains control and figures out how to use it to your advantage. Eventually you get control over your life, you learn how to live without drowning.
3) Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
One of only two required readings from High School that stuck with me. We all know the premise, we all know the impact this book can have so I'll leave it at that.
4) Bitter End by Jennifer Brown
This is about a girl in an abusive relationship. I read it about 6 months before I was actually in one myself. The scar on my leg reminds me of this book and everything it taught me. I just wish I would have figured it out earlier.
5) Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
We weren't allowed to read this in our school, honestly I saw the movie first. It piqued my interest not just because of the story or the characters, but because I had a very personal connection to it. This book felt real to me, and it's still very dear to my heart.
6) Stolen by Lucy Christopher
This book fucked me up. There's not really much else to say.
Quote: "I can't save you like that Ty. What you did to me wasn't this brilliant thing, like you think it was. You took me away from everything - my parents, my friends, my life. You took me to the sand and the heat, the dirt and isolation. And you expected me to love you and that's the hardest bit. Because I did, or at least, I loved something out there. But I hated you too. I can't forget that."
7) Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
I didn't read this book when everyone else did. I only read it about a month ago. But here's the thing, Rose's protective nature, and lack of a self-preservation chip? I have that too. I have read books where they have protective friends of course, but nothing that came close to how well this represents me. Rose is protective to the point where it's actually detrimental to her. Please don't think I'm coming off as conceited, because I'm not trying to. I just, I relate to Rose more than I could have ever imagined and that scares the hell out of me.
(I can't find the cover that mine has so I'm not posting a picture)
That's what I have for now, I'll update this when I figure out more
I would like to add though, that Divergent and If I Stay would be on this list, but because of the movies. I don't know, I don't really feel like they're mine anymore.
I'm tagging nighttimemachinery hightopsandhighhopes scottsally hollandperfection bootywolves ianoshea thessmartinski (p.s. I didn't forget your tag thing and I still plan on doing it!) crystalreec ssciam truegriefbeard
You guys don't have to do it if you don't want to and you don't have to do it the same way I did either.
P.S I used the covers of the copies that I have so the pictures are the same as what is on my bookshelf (idk why that's important but I feel like it is to me)
