I haven’t drawn any one thing enough times for direct comparisons. Instead, here is a compilation of cool shit I’ve drawn over the last few years
Specific things I’m proud of in these pieces (Left to right, top to bottom):
1. The hatching on this was crazy. I used a pen called “Thylacine” which is like 8 roughly parallel lines together.
2. Akaashi doing the black swan dance is from a fanfic I was reading and I enjoyed trying to shade with colour and layer types and actually succeeding. Hard to see but the neck is my favourite part
3. This little thing was a bookmark I made for someone; a piece of some snapshot from Star Wars. I love the blending
4. Just all the layering that went into this one, and the slight foreshortening. I bought two “whiteout pens” which were just absorbed and just left faint pale streaks but white jelly roll pen over that made such a cool effect.
5. This dog belonged to my brothers gf and the art was made into an MTG token (3/4 green dog w/ vigilance) and given the fact I’ve never tried hyperrealism or realistic animals before, this was a huge success. All the shapes and the depth and the highlights, I love it.
6. The background came out disappointing but I really like how the hair came out, especially the dried looking blood on some strands, and I loved figuring out the unusual wing shape.
7. This was like, the first time I drew my ocs in a real scene and with their wings in some kinda motion. I enjoyed using the (procreate) marker brush a lot and I think my attempts at interesting angles starts showing results finally. Also my practicing physical interactions for once. Also one may notice the coloured flags they’re holding! This was pride art I never quite finished.
8. I’m just gonna post the full thing here sans background to show off THE CRUNCH that took me multiple days and stuff. I made this in somewhere over a week for art fight while vacationing in the rural Phillipines, I’m impressed I finished it at all
9. This was supposed ot be a simple sketch of a vtuber I was watching (Z3R0exe on twitch) but I started messing around with an oil paint brush and ended up making too gorgeous of a sky to just make a sketch. In general I really like the rendering in it and the texturing on the cement wall that isn’t visible with the compression here.
10. I haven’t actually finished this one but the rendering on the shirt is crazy and the background looks pretty good for how hard it was for me to figure out and the POSE was hard as shit to figure out but it looks so fucking good MY BOYY!!! Easily the most difficult character posing, detail and possibly background I’ve ever tried but I think it’s really coming together fantastically.
11. This was for an art trade, took like 3 hours max and came out perfectly with interesting posing, decent background, great colours, etc. In all I think it really demonstrates how far I’ve come as an artist that all these disparate pieces I’ve practiced pulled together in a timely manner and pretty image for once.
12. This is another MTG token I promised to the same brother like a year ago supposedly and it’s markedly more difficult than all the previous pet tokens but the level of detail I completely didn’t intend to recreate in it is going crazy, this little baby is turning out gorgeous for the straight up printer paper I’m drawing it on.
