A Feathursday Farewell or, Gooses on the Loose
Alas, our sweet little goslings have already left the roof! Late on Monday afternoon Horace and Mildred flew to the ground below to beckon their little ones down—two jumped and landed safely, while the other 4 were scooped in a net by the library's facilities manager, Steve, and brought to safety. We were (thankfully) alerted to this development and Max ran down to get some up-close pictures of our little friends before they toddled off behind their parents.
They are so yellow and so fuzzy that they look photoshopped into these pictures! Maybe that's where the term "feathering" comes from? Regardless, they are extremely cute and Horace and Mildred only hissed at Max a little bit as he snapped these pictures.
They were all sticking close to mom and dad and hopefully are now in a better place for foraging for bugs and grasses than our roof! We already miss having them right outside our windows, but we're happy they were able to safely move on to greener pastures.
