And here we have the first converted card from Ravnica, Agrus Kos, star of the original Ravnica novelization. I had a lot of really great ideas on what to do for Agrus Kos, and I ended up deciding that using all of them wouldn’t be out of line, for such an interesting character. His lore here is really just a short run-down of his role in the novels, which seemed appropriate. Also google is highlighting like, everything in the below paragraphs as misspellings.
Agrus Kos was once a highly decorated member of the Wojek League of the Boros, a group dedicated to maintaining the peace and wellbeing of the people of Ravnica. Over the course of his decades of service, Agrus attained high commendations for his service, and was awarded time and again for his efforts. Unfortunately, these many years took a toll on Agrus’ wellbeing, ravaging his body and mind, and led to a condition in which any further healing magic would risk ending his life rather than saving it.
Wojek League’s Lead Investigator. After a rocky start, Agrus would spend many years achieving fame as a successful investigator within the Boros’ Legion. This work was tazing to both body and mind, but rewarding to Argus’ sense of purpose and desire to protect others. During the training of his replacement, Agrus stumbled upon a conspiracy by Szadek, the leader of the secretive Dimir guild, to uproot the millenia-old Guildpact and instill himself as the ruler of all Ravnica. Together with the help of his allies, Agrus ended the threat that the vampiric Szadek posed, saving Ravnica but helping to lead to the Guildpact’s ultimate end. The fame this act brought proved too much for Agrus to handle, who retired soon thereafter.
Permanent Retirement. After having prevented Szadek from achieving his goals, Agrus retired to work as an Orzhov security guard, crossing paths with the future leader of the Orzhov, Teysa Karlov. Together, they discovered the secret plans of the mad archmage Zomaj Huac, helping to prevent him from establishing a new family of dangerous dragons under his control. In their final bid to stop the archmage’s plans, Agrus Kos crashed in an Izzet observation sphere, and was killed when his friend Crixizix attempted to revive Argus with a healing potion, causing the Boros veteran’s heart to stop.
Threat of Project Kraj. After his death, clauses in Agrus Kos’ Wojek contract put his spirit under assignment working as an enforcer for the Azorius Senate. During this time, Agrus was summoned by the Grand Arbiter to stop the vampiric Szadek once more, who had returned to try and cause the final downfall of the Guildpact. Agrus used his new spectral form to infiltrate a Simic lab working with Szadek, discovering the creation of Project Kraj, a monstrous ooze posing an enormous danger to Ravnica. In the end, Agrus was able to end this threat as well, helping to trap Szadek at last, only to release the vampire to fight against the corrupt Grand Arbiter. In the end, Agrus was brought back once more by his angelic friend Feather, and appointed as a guard in the new spirit district of Agyrem.
a white and red combo deck in mtg is called a "boros" deck after the boros guild, a bunch of zealous warriors, but it should be called the children's hospital deck
