2018 has been an exciting year for me in #TampinesNorth. We launched a few new programmes this year - like Project 100=50, #HomeworkHelp, #BorrowUseReturn, Tampines North Bilingual Youth Kindle Award. These causes ring close to my heart, and I am glad we could make the projects happen with all your help and support. I am also happy that we have been able to keep many of our community projects going, such as #KopiTalk, Project 215, Free Haircut Service, #IPPTKakis and so on. #MyKindofFridge also inspired community fridges in other areas this year. Thanks to all those who volunteered and played a part in making our community projects happen. I hope we can continue to work together to keep these projects going in 2019 and beyond. Happy to be back at #Tampines Blk 401 and Blk 502 with my Tampines Town Council colleagues to do 2nd launch of new set of umbrellas donated by our generous residents in support of BorrowUseReturn umbrella sharing. A resident Ms Heidi PM me on FB previously to express her interest to contribute umbrellas after our pilot launch on 10 Jan 2018 as she felt that BorrowUseReturn is very meaningful and residents of Tampines will benefit from our umbrella sharing initiative. Henceforth, Heidi’s husband Francis and her friend Coco pool their resources together and donated 200 umbrellas including printing of text on the umbrellas all for a good cause to support BorrowUseReturn campaign. We are very thankful to see a strong sense of Kampung spirit and definitely touched to know that residents care for one another in the same neighbourhood. Conducted my first #KopiTalk session for 2018 last Saturday. Heard a lot of feedback about our community sharing initiatives, including the recently launched #BorrowUseReturn umbrella sharing. Many residents expressed frustration at the lack of civic-mindedness of some people who take the umbrellas without returning them. A few called for harsher action to be taken against such residents. I also sensed that some wondered if it was worth continuing with such initiatives if people were not behaving as expected. The reason why I continue to support such initiatives in Tampines is because I believe in spreading good in the community. Negative behaviours are to be expected from time to time, but I think we can achieve better outcomes with public education, and nudge behaviour through the way we structure the programmes. My team and I will continue working on this. If you have suggestions on how the initiatives can be improved to benefit more people and encourage positive behaviour, do let me know. #tampinesnorth #firstin2018

It has been about a week since Tampines Town Council launched #BorrowUseReturn (共享雨伞 有借有还), a new umbrella sharing initiative. Joined my Tampines Town Council colleagues to share with residents #borrowusereturn, a new umbrella sharing initiative. Umbrellas have been placed at two stretches (between Blk 401 and Blk 502; between N2 Shopping Street and Blk 298). If successful, we plan to replicate at other locations. It started to rain soon after the launch. We were happy to observe people using and returning the umbrellas. Some residents also came to donate umbrellas. You can do so too at Tampines Town Council Office, Tampines North CC and Tampines East CC. You can also just hang them at the two pilot locations. #tampinestowncouncil #ilovetampines #sharing

In the midst of the current raining season, Tampines Town Council is pleased to pilot #borrowusereturn, an umbrella sharing initiative, starting from tomorrow. Umbrellas will be placed at two stretches (between Blk 401 and Blk 502; between N2 Shopping Street and Blk 298). They have been selected based on public voting. I will be at Blk 401 tomorrow (10 Jan) 8-9am together with Town Council staff to share news of this initiative. We are also collecting umbrellas from public. Umbrellas can also be donated at Tampines Town Council office, Tampines North CC and Tampines East CC.
