Extra Info !!! THIS AU MAJORLY DEVIATES FROM THE CANON !!! Family: Zeff (father), Cavendish (big brother), Sanji (little brother), Borsalino (husband), Bebe and Dina (daughters), Sora (mother; deceased) General Backstory: In the wake of his wife’s untimely death, chef Zeff made a radical decision to restart his life and business from a blank slate in Marineford. Despite the hardships, Zeff managed to raise Cavendish, Ana and Sanji on his own, and in return, his ducklings made him proud in the future. Alas, in a place like Marineford, safety and prestige come with a price, which became evident once Ducky got involved with one of the admirals. Hobbies: Ducky is an avid learner that seeks to extract knowledge from reading books, gathering experiences and socialising with established individuals. Whenever she wants to unwind, Ducky loves to cosy up with her books, quickly paint landscapes that open up from Baratie or listen to mellow bossa nova. Sometimes she throws dance parties with her brothers and daydreams about embarking on a sailing voyage to the All Blue with her family. Likes: Improving herself; goofing around with her brothers; dancing in the kitchen with Kizaru and listening to the sound of his voice; being rewarded for her work. Dislikes: Being pigeonholed or not taken seriously; when things don’t go according to her plan; when her thoughts and concerns are either ignored or downplayed.
Behaviour Personality: Ana is an ambitious and intelligent young woman that works towards someday leading the department she works at and standing in the same rank as the vice admirals. At her best, she is efficient, honest, hardworking and ingenious; her innate resourcefulness lets her find solutions her seniors could never think of. At her worst, she becomes conceited, jealous, cutthroat, one-track-minded, and tends to obsess over various things or people she thinks she needs to earn validation from. Duckling may be stubborn, like her father, but she’ll re-consider her options if life presents her lucrative chances. Despite her being generally favoured and supported by her higher-ups, she strives to establish herself independently through excruciatingly hard work. Habits: Follows a meticulous beauty routine every day; invests a lot of time and funds into her self-improvement; occasional smoker. Ambition: Inspired by the magnificence of Marineford, Duckling strives to prove herself to the legends and game-changers within the HQ, ascending the ranks of her profession and making her contribution to the future of the Navy. Although it must be noted that desire to be well-liked and respected by her role models underlies the lion’s share of her goals and ambitions. Greatest fear: Her loved ones getting hurt; realising that she will inevitably lose Kizaru due to their age difference. Biggest secret: Her father’s shady past; deeply buried belief that the ends justify the means. How does this character get along with other characters? Prefers to keep her distance and trusts only a few chosen people, like her family and husband. In the work environment she's very diligent, responsible, occasionally competitive and even combative, although her superiors appreciate that kind of attitude. Holds her higher-ups in high regard. Among peers, Ducky’s humorous side shines through, by cracking cutting (and sometimes pervy) jokes, however she struggles to let her guard down out of fear of coming across as vulnerable or sensitive. Over time she became convinced that only Kizaru is able to see her for who she really is without ending up hating her. When someone piques her romantic interest, she tends to plunge into a new relationship head-first.
Appearance Height: 161 cm Body Type: Lithe, slightly athletic. Skin tone: Fair with a golden undertone. Hair (style & colour): Shoulder-length; dark blond; neatly styled. She wears her hair either in a neatly tied ponytail or styles and adorns it with small and elegant hair accessories. Eyes: Hooded; icy blue. Facial description: Oval face shape; high cheekbones; a slightly long straight nose; full bow-shaped lips. Normally wears natural makeup: light mauve or no eyeshadow, slick eyeliner, rosy pink blush and lipstick of the same colour. Off the clock, Ducky goes for bolder lip colour (vibrant pink, or even darker brown), and thicker eyeliner adorned with a false lash. Prominent features or distinguishing marks: beauty marks on the ride side of her chin and near her right eye; beauty mark on her left ring finger. Style of dress: In the walls of HQ, Ducky has developed a sophisticated and recognisable fashion style – her go-to outfits consist of tweed suits or blazer dresses, tights and heels that harmonise with the rest of her outfit. She spends a lot of time in the morning getting ready for work, following a meticulously planned beauty routine. Usually plans what she is going to wear a day ahead. Off the clock, Ducky can put an edgier side of her style on display, thus she often goes for materials like leather for her pants and skirts, and likes to experiment with oversized, unconventional tops in vibrant colours. Mannerisms or gestures: Piercing cold gaze; can't help but wince when people get on her nerves; her eyes are quite expressive and may give away her real attitude. Occasionally speaks North Blue dialect with her father and brothers.
Significant Relationships Baratie Flock: Ducky considers her dad and brothers her heroes and closest friends. Their family dynamic is built upon mutual unconditional support and dedication to the flock’s needs. The family’s love for each other is obvious, but it’d be a lie to call their dynamic perfect. The cracks in their relationships started to show once Ducky introduced the man she was willing to spend the rest of her life with, much to Zeff’s unconcealed disapproval. Borsalino: Upon their first meeting, neither Ducky nor Kizaru could imagine that they’d have anything in common, much less that they’d be the endgame. First and foremost, Ducky focused on building her career at the HQ and impressing her superiors, while Kizaru couldn’t care less for another one of Tsuru’s employees. His professional interest sparked only when Ana started receiving lavish praises from the Marine legends, which inspired him to provide his patronage to her as well. Later on, their friendship extended past the HQ walls, the two were meeting more frequently as friends in an informal setting where Ducky could rely on her new friend for the words of advice and encouragement. The timing never seemed right for them to take a leap of faith and take their relationship to the next level, so for several years Ana had to suppress her feelings for the older admiral, while Kizaru idly yearned for the moment when he could sweep her off her feet. When their mutual fondness finally did overcome them, Borsalino didn’t make himself wait too long and proposed to Ducky less than a month after the two became official. Sentomaru: Natural frenemies, Ana and Sentomaru started bumping heads since she’d first set foot in the HQ. Sentomaru dismissed her talents and considered her too green to participate in board meetings, even if she was dutifully assisting Tsuru, and Ducky found schadenfreude in outshining him. Sentomaru also played a major role in setting up his boss with Ducky. Tsuru and Sengoku: Ducky’s mentors and role models. In bouts of pride, they often expressed that she was a natural for working at the HQ, which vexed Zeff quite a lot. Kuzan: Mostly neutral and indifferent, Aokiji didn’t interact much with Ana besides having short conversations on bureaucratic matters. Ducky’s rapid rank ascension impressed Kuzan, so the two started spending more time together and getting to know each other, thus forming a strictly platonic friendship. Kuzan was one of the few people who didn’t have anything against Borsalino’s relationship with her, in fact he even stated that they were meant for each other. Bianca (aka Bebe) and Ferdinanda (aka Dina): The little daughters of Kizaru and Ana, daddy’s little treasures. Bianca’s bossy, feisty and brutally honest attitude stands in a sharp contrast to Dina’s laid-back aplomb. Little do the girls know that they became the glue for Ana and Zeff’s relationship that had been tested by many adversities.
