Riddick/Johns, "Please come get me."

Sooo, once again I think my muse did something way in left field…

Crossposted to AO3.  Give me a prompt.

He hadn’t heard his voice in quite sometime.  At the moment it sounded broken.  “Dad…” he pleaded. “Please come get me.”

There was no way the answer was goingto be anything but, “I will Billy.  Where are you?”

“We’re on… we’re on Helion.”  We? “New Mecca.”

There werequestions on the tip of his tongue.  Rather Boss just assured, “I’mcoming.”

Immediatelyredirecting course for Helion, Boss tried not to think of all thereasons his son could be calling.  The last he had heard from him,Billy was taking a con on a civilian vessel and then he had simplyvanished, dropping off the radar.  Whatever it was didn’t sound good.

They made goodtime, arriving in just two days.  The veteran merc and crew madetheir way to the address they’d been given which turned out to be ahotel.  He had Dahl, Lockspur, and Moss hang back in the lobby,unsure what the situation was, and made his way to the room.

The man whoanswered the door was a stranger to him and Boss’ brows lowered as hedemanded, “Who’re you?”

When he heard Billycry out in pain, Boss shoved past the man and entered the roomproper.  Curled up on the bed, shaking, was his boy.  He sat besidehim, wanting to touch but not knowing what was wrong.  He didn’t wantto inadvertently hurt Billy further.

“He’s detoxing,”the stranger explained, his voice like chewed gravel.

“From what?”Boss demanded.

“Morphine.”

Boss cursed becausedamnit if he didn’t know why his boy was strung out on thestuff.  He had warned Billy to go easy, had wanted him to come home,but of course his boy was too stubborn for that.  Now look where ithad gotten him.  Boss should have tracked him down and dragged hisass back home.

“Shh Billy,”Boss soothed, wiping the damp curls at his forehead.  His glazed overblue eyes looked as if they cleared a bit in recognition.

There was amomentary smile before Billy looked around frantically.  “Riddick?”

Riddick?!  Boss’eyes snapped to the young man that approached the other side of thebed.  The infamous convict was the one that had stabbed his son inthe first place.  Not to mention Billy was supposed to be taking himto slam.

“I’mhere Johns,” Riddick assured, his face softening a little with hisvoice.  He knelt on the bed behind the blonde, a hand falling to hiship.  “Not goin’ anywhere.”

Billysighed in relief, sinking back into the mattress.  “Lay with me?”

Therequest startled Boss but apparently it was nothing new as Riddickslipped easily down behind Billy, arm slinging around his waist as hecurled around him protectively.  “Sleep Billy boy,” Riddickmurmured gently.  “Yer dad and I are here.”  He nuzzled into thecurls at Billy’s neck, the hint of a smile on Riddick’s face before hislips pressed to feverish skin.

“Yeah,”Billy breathed, already calming down.  He grabbed Boss’ hand,squeezing it tight.  He managed a little smile, cloudy eyes lookingup in Boss’ general direction as he mentioned, “Hey Dad.”

Bosscould only shake his head.  What else was he going to do?  “SleepBilly,” he encouraged, watching over his son as he did just that.

I watched all Riddick movies again recently and now I'm having Boss and Billy feels. I mean, imagine them when Billy was little, 10 years old or something.

Billy following Boss around all the time, especially when he’s been away for an extended period of time.  He’s Boss’ little buddy and he loves having his mini shadow.  Billy looks up to him like he’s the world.

Boss leaving the military when his wife dies so he can take care of Billy.  Billy in his rebellious teenage phase that is rather half-hearted as any time he tries to really go off the rails his father’s disappointment (or the threat of it) is enough to straighten him out.  Honestly, the worst Billy did was run off to join the Marines at 17.  Not that Boss can say he was surprised- Billy still thought of him as his hero.

Billy joining the MMP and the first thing he does is call Boss.  Boss who is infinitely proud.  Even more proud when Billy leaves to join him in the merc trade- something Boss started to do after Billy left home and he felt like he could have a career again.  Boss who gets to work side by side with his son, teaching him and always there to protect him…

Boss… who sits alone in a bar with a half drunk bottle of booze as he realizes his son is never coming home…

Ooo, last one, I swear! I just saw Riddick the other day so how about Boss Johns and Dahl? Pretty please?

How I feel about this character:

He’s one kick ass merc and I adore the sexy fox.

All the people I ship romantically with this character:

Riddick.  Although somehow I paired him with Vaako in a couple unreleased fics.  Not sure how it happened.

My non-romantic OTP for this character:

His son, Billy boy.  And Dahl is in a lot of ways a replacement for him I think.

My unpopular opinion about this character:

I don’t know that I have one.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

I think things turned out how they should have actually.  Although I can see Boss following Riddick back to the armada.  Still a possibility.

I think she’s been one of our strongest female characters in the fandom yet.  ”Sorry… not really.”

Shazza is my OTP with her for sure.  I do have her paired with Kyra though in this one fic I’m working on.

 We could have lost the bullshit line there at the end to Riddick with the whole “sweet like” thing.  *eye roll*  Dahl’s gay, so how about not trying to shoehorn something in that doesn’t belong?
