Desmond AND Clay in the witcherverse, but they treat it as a vacation with monster hunting and assassinations for enrichment. They have their wtf moment when they hear what is most of ABBA's Take a Chance on Me being sung by a bardic duo because that has become a thing now?
Shenanigans happen as they try to investigate the source of the song because 1 they can meet them and 2 if they are bad they get the Brotherhood Special. But once they reach the bar where it was first sung, the owner deadpans at them because you two were the ones that sung it after the villagers kept sending them ales as thanks for rescuing their children from a vampire coven that had just arrived.
People who meet them generally refer to them as the two idiots with a death wish or the two crazies because normal non witcher humans don't generally go monster hunting without that one cult/church of the fire backing them
Jaskier is so mad he can can't find the suo that started it all because he was interested in offering them a position as his ta and maybe even apprenticeship
bit of unserious assassin's creed blurbling wherein kadar is super underqualified to care for a baby god but, well, he's not exactly in a position to refuse.

Kadar is dying.
The Templars are long gone; they left him to chase after Malik (Malik who ran, who left with the artifact in hand and anguish on his face, and Kadar is so happy that Malik ran, because he saw the moment of broken indecision where his brother almost didn't). He's laying in the dust of a long-forgotten temple with shattered bones and blood seeping out of a dozen wounds and the knowledge that there is no one coming to save him.
Their mission was secret, known only to them and Al Mualim, and even he didn't tell them what they were actually looking for. They didn't check in with the bureau; the Dai has no idea they're even in the city.
Malik cannot come back for him.
Altair won't.
So Kadar lays there, and things are going hazy and warm, and there's a shining golden light that beckons him toward it--
"Be not afraid," says the light.
Kadar blinks.
"Wait, shit," says the light.
Kadar frowns.
'Where the fuck is Altair?" demands the light, coalescing into something resembling a humanoid figure.
Oh. Well, that wasn't the end Kadar thought their most talented Assassin would meet. Crushed to death by falling rubble? A little embarrassing. He hopes, for Altair's sake, that people remember it differently.
"Through there," Kadar rasps, twitching a finger toward the blocked doorway. "Will you be collecting my soul, too? I think I have some time left yet."
The light squawks.
"Kadar?"
Probably not there for him, then. Kadar never really believed in an afterlife or deities before - religion isn't terribly relevant, to Assassins - but it's hard to deny a floating, glowing apparition appearing at your death.
Said apparition drops to the ground with an almost audible thump, the golden haze dissipating to reveal a very human-shaped death deity. The man is blond, white-skinned, holding a bundle of shimmering cloth and gaping at Kadar in outright dismay.
"Shit, I knew the calculations were wrong, Seventeen," the deity hisses at the blanket. "Why didn't you listen?"
The bundle coos.
Kadar perks up a little; he's always liked children. Malik says it's because he is one, but Kadar's also pretty sure that Malik came out of the womb already eighty years old and with the grumpiness to match.
"Don't give me that look, you over-engineered lump of compressed data. Wait, did you--did you plan this?"
A deity in training, perhaps? Kadar hopes the little one isn't here for him; he would like to be correctly ushered to whatever afterlife awaits him.
"Fuck it, fine, you know what? I can make this work."
The deity stomps over, crouching at Kadar's side with a grimace as he takes in his mangled body. Kadar manages a polite nod, breath rattling in his probably-punctured lungs.
"Hello, sir."
"You," the deity says bluntly. "Do you want to live?"
Yes. Desperately.
"Is there a cost?" Kadar asks.
The deity smirks approvingly. He tilts the bundle of cloth, revealing a babe that can't be more than a year old, with warm brown skin and big golden eyes and an adorable, smiling face.
"Yes. You must keep this child safe, and tell no one how you got him, save for your brother or Altair Ibn-La'Ahad. Al Mualim and the Templars can never know about his existence."
Kadar nods slowly. There is a warning there that he does not like, implications that are concerning, but the requirements seem within his capability. He may have to stay away from the Brotherhood - may end up having to leave it altogether - but he can keep his word. It is a small price to pay for his life.
The only problem is--
"I don't know how to care for a child," he admits.
The deity stares at him, and then pinches the bridge of his nose.
"I know what I did to deserve this. I know. But why is this my afterlife."
The question seems rhetorical. Kadar doesn't try to answer.
The deity lets out a huff of breath.
"Whatever. Malik basically raised you, and Altair will show up eventually. It'll be fine. Probably. But make a choice now, Kadar, if you want to be saved in time."
"I do," Kadar says. "I'll do it."
"Great."
The deity fusses with the babe, pulling free the golden cloth wrapped around him. He shakes it out to its full length and lays it over Kadar like a funeral shroud, shimmering and warm, and then takes a step back.
"Now, let's see if we can't speed things up a bit..."
His breath easing, his pain fading wonderingly away, Kadar slips into a dreamless, healing sleep.
As important as it was to contact Tumblr when they made that asinine, fucked up change, now that they've reversed it, you have a chance to say thanks for reversing it.
I know that you're probably still riding the high (negative) from the stress of going through yesterday's changes, and worrying about the fate of your community, and how badly the change would have affected creators. We banded together, and we let the staff know that we didn't like what they were doing, and you know what? They listened. That's part of why we're here on Tumblr and not other places that would have just shoved that down our throats regardless of the hundreds of thousands of complaints. Yeah, they fucked up. Big time. But they also backed off, and it's important to speak on that front as well if you want them to do it again later.
So, even though you may still be mad that they did it at all, take a moment and a breath, and click here. Select feedback if it isn't already selected. And just say "Hey, thanks for listening to your users, and for rolling back the change. I like my community here, and I like that you listened to us when we asked you not to do something we didn't like." It doesn't need to be elaborate. But if we want them to listen to us, making it worth listening to us is a step in the process.
Which also means that if you added a negative review somewhere due to this update, consider retracting or editing it to address the back track on the update. If you were a premium user and you cancelled in order to speak with your money to object to the change, consider speaking again now that you've been listened to.
Staff fucked up. But I'd rather have a staff that fucks up sometimes and then actually listens to its users and fixes or tries to fix it, than a staff that fucks up and pushes through to force the fuck up on everyone. So I'm going to thank them for listening this time, and I'm going to encourage them to listen again next time.
