Boss Week Day 1

What about the channel first piqued your interest or made you subscribe?

The first time I ever saw Jack was in a collab with Mark back in February 2015, and the reason I even went to his channel in the first place is because of the accent. I was already lowkey obsessed with Ireland at that point because of Miracle Of Sound, and when I heard Jack I was like 'is that... an Irish accent??' and I specifically clicked on the link to his channel in the description because I had to check. I watched a few videos and then just kinda left for a bit, but I found myself coming back to the channel very often until I eventually subscribed and started watching him daily. And the rest is history :D

BOSS WEEK DAY 1

February 1st, Beginnings: What about the channel first peaked your interest or made you subscribe? I was visiting a friend and we discussed about Let’s players on Youtube and showed videos to one another. I already was a fan of Mark , and my friend suggested: Hey, you know Jacksepticeye? Me: No. Friend: OMG he’s the best and funniest. Me: Ok. And then she showed me the video of the Undertale playthrough. After three seconds my ears started to bleed. It was amazing. When I went home some weeks passed and I told myself: Not gonna occupy my time and senses watching this loud as balls son of a gun, I already watched way too much youtube at the time. But somehow I got the hang of it and with each video I watched, Jack somehow got me hooked. Probably the good looks or somethin’. Yeah... okay, he is also funny, adorable, entertaining and has a heart of gold. :D @therealjacksepticeye You’re a dork and I like dorks :>

Got behind so here are days 2&3 of Boss Week

Boss Week Day #2

Growth: How have you grown as a person being part of the channel?

One thing that being on the channel has given me is a sense of motivation and work ethic that I did not have before. I have always been a procrastinator (still am but making progress) but over the past few years I have seen how hard Seán works and how much he loves what he does, and it has inspired me. I always just kinda floated through life always scared to go out and get the things I wanted. I have had so many advantages and privileges given to me, but I never did my best. That has changed over the past year as I get closer to finishing my undergraduate degree. I want to be a high school counselor and I know that graduate school will not be fun all the time and it will be hard, but it will be worth it.  

 Boss Week Day #3

Friends: Have you made any friends in the community? What are your favorite memories together?

I have never been good at making friends even online but that is a skill I am trying to work on. I get anxious and think that no one wants to talk to me, but I have been trying to reach out more lately and I have had some good conversations. That being said I did go to the tour back in June and after the show when a bunch of people were just hanging out around the venue I did go out of my comfort zone and talk to someone. Seán was posting the gifts from that night on his Insta story and I saw that he had posted mine which was really cool. A few minutes later I noticed a someone get kinda quietly excited and I just went over and asked if Seán had taken a picture with their art. They said yes and we just started a nice conversation and I kinda hung out with them and their friend until Seán walked to the bus. It was nice to have someone to talk about theories and the channel with while we waited. We haven’t talked a whole lot since but every once and awhile we check in.

Beginnings: What about the channel first peaked your interest or made you subscribe?

I started watching the channel partly because of a friend’s suggestion and because I had run out of Dan and Phil videos to watch. The first series I watched was Turmoil back in the fall of 2016 and I stuck around because of how genuine Seán was and how much he made me laugh. I liked that I could come home from class every day and there would be another video waiting. It felt like I had a friend and someone to talk to every day which was nice. I watched That Dragon Cancer, Presentable Liberty, and The Beginner’s Guide all in one night and that showed me how genuine and kind Seán really is and how much he cares about his community. And he is still just as grounded and authentic as ever which means so much to me.

Emotions: What video/series has made you most happy, sad, thoughtful, or relaxed?

Happy: Subnautica, Reading Your Comments, any fan games, Crash Bandicoot Warped, Photobooth videos, Turmoil, Funniest Home Videos, Overwatch, Golf With Friends, PropHunt, Thumper, any of the “Irish” videos he does on St. Patrick’s Day, and the drum covers/vlogs

Sad: Presentable Liberty, That Dragon Cancer, The Beginners Guide, Emily is Away, and 2017-The Toughest Year on YouTube because I hated seeing him so upset

Thoughtful: Far from Noise, Presentable Liberty, That Dragon Cancer, The Beginners Guide, Emily is Away, and any vlogs about PMA or mental health

Relaxed: Turmoil, Subnautica, Overwatch, Charity Streams, Spyro, any of the Twitch streams, and Septicart/Opening Gifts videos

 Boss Week Day #5

A Message For Sean: What would you say to Sean if you could talk to him?

Thank you. Thank you for being my friend when I felt alone. Thank you for showing me what it meant to work hard and love what I do. Thank you for the laughs, the smiles, and the tears. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself with us and letting us go on your journey with you. Thank you for being unapologetically you because you inspire me to be unapologetically me.

Boss Week Day #6

Words: What thing or things has Seán said that have impacted you the most?

In the video 2017-The Toughest Year on YouTube a lot of what Seán said hit close to home because I had been going through similar feelings myself that year. I remember I was just locked into the screen and totally focused on every word. At the point where Seán starts talking about how he is done feeling sad and defeated and that he was going to make 2018 the best year he could for himself and for us and I was thinking to myself “I need to do this too. I need to change some things.” At that exact moment Seán looked into the camera and said ““You out there as well….This is our year” and I just burst into tears because it felt like he was talking directly to me and only to me. It felt like we were in this together and that he wasn’t gonna let me go back to the way things were. It was exactly what I needed at the time. I think about that moment a lot.
