Quartz Butterfly and Sky Bloom

Facts from the Wild

Many butterflies sip minerals from wet soil, rocks, or even exposed quartz surfaces in a behavior called "puddling." They do this to gain salts and nutrients that help their survival, just like how quartz contributes minerals to the soil that support plant life.

Earth's Hues

Many wonderful types of flowers hang from trees, shrubs, and climbing vines. Golden Chain Tree, Indian Clock Vine, and Bougainvillea are three tremendous hanging flowers that served as inspiration for the Sky Bloom installation.

We were thrilled that the roses were still blooming, some of the other flowers, too! We found beautiful berries and seed pods, and tried wild persimmons, but we were so caught up in the persimmons, we forgot to take a picture.
