Castle Bothmer, Klütz, Northwestmecklenburg, Northern Germany
An evening stroll through my neighborhood. Castle Bothmer was build for the Duke of Bothmer who worked and lived at 10 Downing Street, London, as a counselor to the King of England. Hence the slightly English architecture. He became obscenely rich and powerful, paid for a castle he never lived in and died childless.
But the castle now is a small wonder. Klütz is a very tiny town at the Baltic Sea. But the castle is a sprawling mass of late 18th century measurement. There is art outside for everyone to look at, a wonderful store with fun things to buy, a really fantastic restaurant (I'd know about that, my wedding reception was a dream), wonderful, international music and theatre festivals and a yearly celebration of everything English. If you are ever around come visit.
Oh, and the only Feston Allee in Germany. The moon rises exactly over the middle of it, it's a sight to behold. Just beautiful!
