Thanks for the tag @bottan-blobbington :D first lines tag game here we go (´▽`)
Rules: post the beginning lines of your most recent 10 published fics (or chapters, if you don’t have 10 fics), then attempt to tag 10 people!
Lmao I'm halfway through writing this and have made the executive decision to make it 7 fics. Reason being this is getting chonky xD plus there'd be that 3 fic overlap with a similar tag game I played last year, so...
*gets bricks and plaster for a wall of text*
1. Loki's Surprisingly Not So Bad Family Dinner (Loki & his family, Loki & Tony Stark, modern AU, 8k)
Steering wheel gripped in his hands, Loki tried to breathe past the swirl of dread in his gut. He had one minute, still. Maybe two. Any more than that, and it’d become obvious he was stalling.
“You can do it, Lolo,” it came from next to him. “I believe in you.”
He continued staring forward, not gracing that with a response. Of all the nicknames Tony had assigned him, that was one of his least favorite. It seemed it was just one of those days.
“Hey,” Tony said, a hand on Loki’s arm. Loki finally turned to take in his friend’s unusually serious – perhaps even earnest – expression, bracing for whatever reassurance might follow. Instead: “I’m sure you’ll break a leg.”
Loki snorted out a laugh. That wasn’t how it went, he was fairly certain.
(Lmao bit more than a few lines but an earlier cutoff would've felt wrong in some way xD)
2. Putting the Amor in Amora (Loki/Tony Stark, 3k)
Tony Stark was a cat in Central Park at 5pm on a Tuesday, which was not to say that that was normal.
Some kind of witch – ‘Give my best to Loki, dear’ – had shown up and zapped him, and where was his stuff? His phone, his clothes, the arc reactor for the love of–
On the plus side, he’d already made a scraggly sidekick. And it had only been ten minutes, tops.
Tony Stark, charismatic cat.
3. In All The Ways (Loki/Tony Stark, Asgardian AU, <4k)
There was no way about it: They were lost.
Loki looked at the paths diverging before him. Try as he might, he couldn’t spot anything new to him; every bush and tree and fern as if he had seen it before. The forested crossing remained the same irksome degree of vaguely familiar, and Loki was torn between lamenting his bad luck and grudging respect for what- or whomever had led them to walk in circles like this.
Unwilling to do any such thing out loud, he ignored his friend to reach into his breast pocket. He pulled out a small, inexpertly drawn map of their surroundings, and gazed at it silently.
Anthony snorted. “A spell got the better of you, and you didn’t even realize. Didn’t think I'd see the day.” His voice was teasing and full of mirth.
...alright. I guess this is just a thing now xD
4. You'll Never Guess— Actually, I Did (Loki/Tony Stark, highschool AU, <3k)
Tony really hoped all schools weren't this easy to break into.
He pocketed his tools, then pushed open the door. Piece of cake, that. It actually seemed to get easier everytime.
He carefully let the door fall shut, reminded of that one saying, that locks only keep honest people out. It seemed to be true, at least in this case: anyone in the mood for a bit of B&E with a pair of somewhat functional hands could probably make it in here. ...not that they’d find much if they did.
As for why he was here... it was out of boredom.
Alright, actually it was to secretly slip something into his seat neighbor and best friend’s desk.
5. Solace (pre Loki/Tony Stark, ~200, issa poem ✨ xD)
Merchant of Death and Teller of Lies,
One lacking a heart, the other his honour.
Unseen their sorrows, their struggles and pain,
Efforts in vain and tears gone unshed
As truths rise and worlds burn.
6. Nonsense Confession (Loki/Tony Stark, <8k)
Tony raised a hand to knock on Loki's door, hoping to surprise his resident trickster. Usually, Loki was barely awake at this time of day – as in, he was out of bed and dressed, but rarely more than that – which made this the perfect moment to catch him off guard without actually waking a sleeping beast while still being somewhat civil about it. Who knew, Tony might even gain a hint or two about today's plans from a sleepy-headed, less alert Loki – and maybe, just maybe, manage to plant one of his own prank devices out of sight while his friend wasn’t looking.
...alright, who was he kidding. There was near zero chance he'd be able to easily get one by Loki – not today. Not on the day – the day of pranks and tricks, of funny gadgets and old hats and near obligatory shenanigans: April Fools’.
7. beholding beauty (bluehot and gibey) (Loki/Tony Stark, 9k)
Pressure on his right arm. Uncomfortable floor. A voice.
“...u in there, Loki? Come on, talk to me, sweetheart.”
Other voices, quiet. Unimportant. Touch on his chest, softer. Not a voice – the voice.
“Of all the fucking times for Pointbreak to – no, I don’t know, okay? I’m not sure...”
The voice sounded worried. And Loki ... didn’t like that.
Hmmm 🤔 interesting. The urge to include quite a few more lines probably definitely says sth about my ability to write beginnings, but I'm not 100% sure what. Well, sth to nibble on for later xD
No pressure tags: :D @feltwrong @minhyongi @vilyanenyavilya @izhunny and anyone else who sees this and wants to play! (´▽`)
