Meghann is from Wisconsin, but her heart is in the Rocky Mountains so she decided to do her senior portraits here! And wouldn’t it be that when I was FINALLY going to meet this cool chic, it was the very day I was admitted to the hospital…BUMMER for ME, but SCORE for Meghann cause she got to work with one of my favorite photographers in Colorado - Nate! Love this time of year because I get to do something totally different and hang out with my little handful of Seniors that I get to do every year! Many of you probably don’t know that I went to school to be a High school English teacher. My path led me to get to be a full time photographer, but there is still a part of me that misses the dream of hanging out with teens all day. SO senior portraits are such a win-win! Calvin is one of those guys that is just so naturally cool that he doesn’t have to put any effort into trying to be. I wish I knew what that felt like, haha - teach me your ways Calvin! He’s not a man of many words, at least in the short time I had with him, but you just get that vibe that he has all his crap together already and he’s so ready for this next phase of life. Emily called me on the way to the session worried about the “massive smoke cloud right over where we are heading”. I had already checked that we weren’t in any kind of danger of being in the path of the fire, and said that "it’ll give us really pretty light”…and…wow! Of course I would never hope for fires, but they do create a super cool mood that you just can’t create otherwise. The fact that this family is extremely photogenic only made this shoot that much more amazing. I worked with Emily at eBags back in the day and left when she was pregnant with her oldest so it was so fun to get to meet her daughters and hike around with the fam.
