August 26, 2020: Green Silicone Rubber Die De-Molding This came out so freaking well! I hope that the folks over at Game Tank (who sell really cool diy dice towers made from lego-style bricks) really enjoy it! It was a surprise gift! :) Anyway. I love how this came out. I used a pressure pot this time, that made it have a lot less big bubbles, and I'm quite pleased with that. I also made a reservoir out of a straw I had lying around, and that worked really well! The first one I made had a huge divot on the 1 side because it shrank a little when it cured. I wasn't sure about the straw, but because the silicone is so thick, it worked really well. I don't know if that would work for resin, but I'll have to try at some point. May 22, 2020: Soft Rubber Silicone D6 die Well. This worked a whole lot better than I'd imagined. It left a couple small pieces of itself behind in the mold, and it ripped in a couple of places. But over all, it turned out really nicely for a stress relief die! Honestly, I could have been more gentle with it. But I had accidently tried to rip my right thumbnail off earlier in the day, and it freakin' hurt! I'm going to get some of the Dragon Skin for my next attempt. See how it compares. I've been told that it is stronger, more durable, but still soft. Guess we'll see! I will also try using a talcum dusted mold, because that's worked for me in the past (though, I should try it once with the same silicone for proper research). This time I did the about half/half alcohol and dish soap thing that I just found out about (i didn't really measure). But I couldn't get it out of all the corners, so there were lots of voids. Plus the giant void where it shrank a smidgen. But, again, for a stress relief squeezy thing, who cares? It's not meant to be rolled during a session. I also really need a vacuum chamber if I'm going to make these on the regular. So many bubbles. We'll see.
