July 28, 2020: Rubber Dice, Full Set (Plus an Extra Giant Gem) I absolutely love how these came out! I tried a little harder to keep out bubbles, and for the most part, I think I did pretty ok for rubber. I didn't think about that they might shrink when curing. But they didn't seem to shrink too much, so that's ok. The most important part of this is the homemade mold release. It's one part 70% isopropyl alcohol to one part (in this case) Dawn dish detergent. It worked amazingly well. I think I did a much better job of coating it than I did the first rubber die I made a while ago. Same molds, so it's not that. I just made a small 3 ounce cup full, and filled each of the molds completely, then poured them out and shook them out really well. Probably could have used a cotton swab to get some of the bigger drips left over. But this worked well. Remember, though, you shouldn't use these for resin after this. The soap probably won't have a good reaction with the resin. But I don't know, and I'm not trying. :) I can't wait to make more. I'll have to get more of the cheap molds because these will rip eventually. Probably sooner than later, though they felt pretty sturdy. We'll see! I'm also thinking about what else I can make out of rubber. I know I want to make silicone rings, but that will be a while. Maybe bracelets, bangle style. Earrings? We'll see. :) I also might try a harder rubber for more resistant when squeezing. These are super soft and smooshy. Like those squishy little animals that were really popular for like a month. #dice #handmadedice #dicemaking #siliconedice #rubberdice #bouncydice https://www.instagram.com/p/CDLp_jenOYH/?igshid=1hktmqqrnoy46
