I'm having an Ansel Adams moment with my tripod-mounted camera on the roof of my van. The sun is rising, and it's calm and quiet. My mind is running an algorithm of all the possibilities of atmospheric conditions. Will the sky get more glorious, or is it over for this sunrise? I love mornings like this. Especially after the shock of waking up at 4 am subsides. It's been a great week on assignment for @winnebagorvs in the Tetons. I’m going to have sand in my ears for quite some time as a result of this picture. 60 mph winds are no joke. I thought a van might get blown over with a few big gusts. But today is gorgeous and other than the grit and this picture it’s just a fading memory. . I did have a realization that these are the times a @winnebagorvs is the most valuable. I’ve spent days in tents in this sort of weather and a Revel van is so lavish comparatively. We left the mountains and found the desert. It was a clear and cool night under glowing stars and then later a full moon. Abby and I tossed our sleeping bags out and slept under the rock spires. The desert is so intricate. So much to see and it's always changing with the play of light on the landscape. This reminds me that ”Overland” is just a catchy term to describe using a vehicle to access gorgeous places and to then spend quality time in these places. This is why we travel, be it for rivers, mountains, deserts, or coastlines. No matter why or where it's the curiosity to see that next thing that keeps us going.
