Rewriting some lore for Bound to the skies to be this AU with an Angel/Demon-esque premise. Earthbread is split amongst the beasts and the ancients, ever since their break out of a long slumber (or sealing) in a decate long conflict for control, or peace. Depending on which tide one stands.

Idea for Poison Mushroom Cookie to be a Hooded pitohui the first (and only) poisonous bird discovered (its also a corvid, truly the family that keeps giving) the poison creates an unpleasant tingling and long-lasting numbing effect, sneezing, burning, and watering eyes, most concentrated in the breast, belly and leg feathers (Edit: forget to mention the poison, like poison dart frogs, comes from there diet)

Also some angst ideas for Dark Choco Cookie

Dark Choco stopped preening his feathers after he joined the COD and instead preens Poison Mushroom's feathers since he never knew how to, because of this Dark Choco comes in contact with the poison so often he lost all feeling in his hands, I can also imagine he stopped washing the poison off his hands since he isn't affected by it anymore, but if he touches another Cookie the poison would affect them (Dark Caoco would've 100% gotten in contact with the poison on Dark Choco's hands when they first fought and been affected by it)

I also think the Gingerbrave gang would have come in contact with Poison Mushroom's feathers and are aware of the effects so they would inform Dark Caoco of this

(I'm rambling so I'ma stop here before it gets out of control XD)

Edit: Dark Choco's wings where badly damaged after the fight with Dark Caoco when he ran away, so they are wrapped completely in bandages (the main reason he stopped preening his feathers) so he hides his wings under his cape, which made the Watchers and Dark Caoco think he didn't have them anymore (giving Dark Caoco traumatic thoughts for all the pain he caused his son 🙃)

Fun fact: This guy is THE og cuckoo-esque avian ever, started out the entire genre all by himself

Also he's as good of a mom as a cuckoo mom (pun intended), avoids paying child support since forever

Jokes aside, I decided it was time to revamp my older avian designs as some needed a few improvements imo.

So, as such, here's a PV redesign!

In the original post I chose to dive more into the general gist of how avians work n all, so with this one it felt much more fitting to dive into PV himself!!

Pure Vanilla is a "dove-like avian", due to his appearance being most faithful to one. His markings are based off of bleeding heart/mourning doves, but his behavioural habits are those of the latter;

He's pretty protective of his people and those close to him, especially after the dark flour war;

Because of such, he's developed a tendency to heal others before himself regarthless of his injuries. This often leads to him lacking the magic necessary to fully heal himself and resorting to "traditional" patching up (With the use of tools such as bandages). Any wound he can't take care of is often hidden;

His feathers reflect light as a result of the souljam (eyes and more vibrant colors aside). How "shiny" they are is directly proportional to how much magic he has left in his system;

When said feathers fall off, they gradually loose their shine/blues and yellows, returning bit by bit to their original appearence before the souljam;

The scarring on his back is another consequence of the souljam, and it signals that he's it's current holder. This "mark" is permanent;

Vanilla has a bit of a biast towards children specifically, and will treat any as his own, often trying to care for them as best as he can;

Overall, he's a gentle peepaw doing his best out there
