Oh, Banff, you are gorgeous 😍 But, man, there are way too many people. . . .

We did the touristy hikes today! I much prefer less people on the trail, that's for sure.

Tunnel Mountain Peak: 3 miles and just under 1,000ft elevation gain

The color of the water here is simply amazing! And SO cold. It was a nice break to plop our feet in for a little bit. I had planned 3 other hikes, but, sadly, the amount of people at each of them just won't allow it. All of the shuttles are booked for almost 2 weeks!! I guess I'll just have to come back 😏

Bow falls, Banff national park, Alberta, Canada Took me over an hour of hiking and hunting to find all of these, but it was worth it for the picture. I left it on the beach and when I walked away it drew a crowd and some kids even started adding to it!

June 23rd Bow Falls | Banff, AB.

My Mom was in town for the weekend and while we had amazing hiking plans with her, the weather did not cooperate at the beginning of the day so we ended up thinking of a plan B instead - which was taking a stroll through Banff. The weather cleared up late afternoon- and good thing was, Mom has never been to the Bow Falls, so she enjoyed this view!

Nestled in the Forest and Peaks of the Canadian Rockies (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A view from Surprise Corner or Point while looking to the south-southwest across the Bow River. I took several images standing or contorting my body at this location, trying to get that "right" image" of the famous hotel. On another image, I was trying to capture the feel of an image I'd seen in an eBook. Here I focused on a wider angle view, trying to even include that little bit of blue skies that seemed to come and go with the passing of the clouds above. For me including that portion of skies added to the grandeur of this view. It wasn't just the Banff Springs Hotel, but it was also the massive peaks as a backdrop and hillsides of evergreens all around. For the final image, I worked for the main edits in Capture NX2. I later exported a TIFF image to NIK Color Efex Pro and used a Big Sky CEP 4.0 filter.
